An Accra High Court on Friday dismissed an interlocutory application by the Progressive Peoples Party (PPP) that sought to bar the Electoral Commission (EC) from collecting filing fees from Political Parties.
The PPP had wanted the court to stop the EC from collecting the fees until the determination of its suit challenging the legality of the fees.
But the court, presided over by Mr Justice Daniel Mensah, dismissed the application and adjourned the substantive case to Tuesday October 11, 2016.
PPP filed an application for injunction asking the court to restrain the EC from receiving GH¢50,000 fee for presidential candidates and GH¢10,000 for parliamentary candidates as filing fees.
According to them the fee is 'too exorbitant and discriminatory'.

@Sule, even a white man ruling Ghana will be far better than your Clan Based Thinking Mahama and the rest of them. Tweeaa!!!
Short-sightedness. We hardly think about our children and their children's children.
KWAME, This is not about living with the consequenceis in the future. The interlocutory has been dismissed but the injunction still stands. The ppp only moved the case and stated their position. Let's all see what happens on the adjourned date else be sue for contempt. But on the platform of court of public opinions, I can also state that the motive behind this injunction is diabolic, and disingeneous. You should be aware that this is part of a grand scheme to throw this country into chaos. And it has just begun, if you are not ready for this, then go on your knees and utter a prayer for this country. and pray for the judgement on Tuesday as well..... there is no existing directive barring the EC to reverse the decision unless by virtue of the discretionary powers of the presiding judge on this matter.
@Sule: who told u Dr Nduom's wife is white? if u do not know please ask wae I know the mother she is fante woman from Edna or Elmina
Yes Yaw but he has made his point. When another political party wins for another 8 ears and they peg the fees at 200,000 GHS, then we'll see who will be complaining. This just made it hard for ordinary people to participate in the political process. If Rawlings had decided to vie for the presidency through the ballot box during the days he was poor, do you think he could have paid this amount (about $12500)? Now some are laughing but we will live with the consequences of our actions in future.
The man who marries a white woman and wants to rule Ghana. So a white lady to probably become our first lady. Kwesi Nduom, Africa is Africans so we will not vote for you because we don't want to change our identity. Stop wasting our ears with your court issues.
ONLY PAPA KWESI "MFEMFEM" NDUOM AND HIS ILK DIDN'T SEE THIS COMING!
