The 12 presidential aspirants who are in a desperate legal tussle to overturn their disqualification by the Electoral Commission have yet another hurdle to cross.
The disqualified candidates, who are now suspects have been issued arrest warrant to appear before the police Criminal Investigative Department by close of day, Friday, 21st October, 2016 or risk being arrested by the police.
They face multiple charges of fraud, voting irregularities and have questions to answer, CID boss, Joseph Benefo Darkwah told Joy FM, Friday.
They have breached Article 53 of the constitution, C.I. 94 of the election regulation, the Criminal Offences Act, among other laws, ASP Darkwa chronicled.
They have been cautioned and we are waiting for them to come. We are using the media to inform them. If they don't come, we will go and arrest them, the CID boss warned.
Flagbearers of the Progressive People's Party, Dr Papa Kwesu Nduom, National Democratic Party, Nana Konadu Agyeman Rawlings, Independent People's Party Kofi Apaloo, All Peoples Congress Hassan Ayariga, PNC Edward Mahama are all likely to be prosecuted.
The aspirants were disqualified from contesting the 2016 elections on October 10, 2016 when the Returning Officer, the Electoral Commissioner Charlotte Osei found multiple breaches in the presidential nomination forms submitted by the aspirants .
On the PPP's forms for instance, one of his subscribers was deemed to have endorsed Dr Nduom in the Central Region as well as the Volta Region, with the same voter identification number but different signatures.
For APC, some of his subscribers were accused of also endorsing the flagbearer of the PNC leader Dr Edward Mahama leading to the disqualification of both flagbearers.
For the NDP, her subscriber was deemed to have registered twice and was ineligible to vote.
All but one of these aspirants have challenged the EC's decision. Even though they admitted there were clerical and administrative errors on the forms they vehemently insisted those errors were not basis for their disqualification.
They are in court challenging the decision but now have to fight a possible jail term for fraud and other breaches.
Speaking to Joy News' Francis Abban, the APC and IPP have made overtures to the Police in an attempt to resolve the matter.
APC General Secretary Razak Opoku is on bail after making an appearance for Hassan Ayariga. He said even though he was not charged with any offence he was granted bail with no surety.
"They asked us to write a statement, which I did," he narrated.
The IPP flagbearer Kofi Apaloo also confirmed being invited but said he went to the police with the persons identified to have committed those administrative breaches to try and find an amicable solution to the problem.

but what's going on in the country. are charlotte osei and her ec gang going out of their minds? this is a possible ploy to rig the elections but if they try they would have the shock of their lives!!!
Massa ; WHAT A FARCE !!!!!!!!; as has already been suspected Mrs Osei and the NDC are creating the scene for initial screening of these presidential candidates because PLAN A is in place with certain target participants aimed to be eliminated from the selected participants before plan B the big master plan is put into place to rig the elections and elect Jon Mahama again ; the target figures are Kwesi Ndoum and Konadu Rawlings because the NDC are scared stiff of division of votes by the undecided voters ; the simple plan is that the voting voting patterns is going to stay the same like 2012 ; those who have made up their minds to vote for NDC represents about 40% of the votes ; NPP represent 40%; 8% of voters may vote for CPP and 2% may be less for the independent candidate ; the floating voter is the key to the election which represents about 12% of voters ; this figure is so important to the NDC who will not like to compete for this floating voters for the re-run if the two target subjects are eliminated ; for the NDC Nana Konadu and Kwesi Ndoum represent a different dimension in the equation and so they have to be eliminated by any means ; do not forget the NDC are capable of murdering their internal opponets and will use the same tactics to eliminate these two targets from the election but what they forget is that the dynamics of the last elections have changed since 2012 ; there is more communication through the internet ; people are well informed about the situation on the ground such as this DKM fraud ; unpaid fees ; rampant stilling by Jon Mahama and his cronies ; everybody is asking why their founder who created them all have stayed away ; Mrs Osei is riding on a thin fine line and can easily plunge this country into mayhem and this idea that the security can deal with the problem is naive because history tells us that when the people rise there are no winners ; it is Ghana that loses ; IS THIS ELECTION PART OF OUR DEVINE CURSE ;WE WAIT AND SEE !!!!!!!!!!
GHANA IS INDEED A FUNNY COUNTRY WITH A CONFUSED LEADERSHIP WHO HAVE ALL THE TIME FOR TRIVIALITIES IGNORING THE HEAP OF PROBLEMS THAT ARE ENGULFING THE COUNTRY.OF WHAT USE IS THE POLICE INVITING THESE PEOPLE FOR QUESTIONING? IF ELECTORAL COMMISSION NECESSARILY have to disqualify some people then it failed to lead up to expectation. This is because it is supposed to have a department that should have educated these people towards getting it right. But as we all know this is country where we will wait for somebody to build on a land before we dispatch police and soldiers to go and destroy it. We are so wasteful and disorganized, having a president who does not know what he doing, having surrounded himself with like minded people. what a pity Ghana
When is coming, everyone will see it. i cant laugh.by the time police finished with them, Election 2016 is history. masresaaa
Smooth Kriminalz. You guys think Charlotte is not smart.
gHANAIANS, MAHAMA AND CHALLOTE OSIE WANT TO PLUNGE THE COUNTRY INTO INFERNO. LET'S WAKE UP, PLEASE.
This must be highly humbling but you have to prove your innocence before getting the chance to contest the decision of the EC. By the time you finish 2016 voting would have been over
Do not trust Charlotte Osei...in cohort with NDC to rig elections
