The Chief of staff Mr Julius Debrah has arrived in the Eastern region for a five-day campaign tour towards the December 7th election accompanied by some members of the national campaign task force such as Madam Faustina Nelson and national executive members of the party such as Mr Koku Anyidoho General Secretary of the party.
Immediately after his arrival the Chief of staff and his team interacted with the media and held a closed door meeting with the regional executives and the regional campaign task force of the NDC.
In an interview with journalists, the Eastern regional chairman of the NDC Mr Tawiah Boateng said the region is not a strong hold of the NPP as some people think.
According to Mr Tawiah Boateng the NDC beat the NPP in the 1992 and 1996 elections under former President Rawlings but lost the region to the NPP from the year 2000.
He said though the party has been trailing behind the NPP in terms of electoral votes obtained in the region since the year 2000, NDC's total votes has been increasing steadily in each election from 2004 .
Mr Tawiah Boateng was therefore optimistic that the party will achieve its agenda 50% votes in this year's election.
