Following Today’s exposé about the deplorable state of a 22-kilometre road from Kasseh (Ada Junction) that links Ada-Foah in the Dangme East District of the Greater Accra Region few months ago, President John Dramani Mahama and his government have quickly moved to construct the road, seemingly to garner more votes in the district during next month’s elections.
When Today visited Ada-Foah on Friday, November 7, 2016, it observed that the 22 kilometre road has been tarred. A portion of that road has also been asphalted, giving it a new face. Today spotted some major roads within the principal streets of Ada-Foah which had also been tarred making business activities in the area very easy.
Today was reliably informed that the project was on the priority list of President Dramani Mahama and it was in fulfillment of his 2012 campaign promise to deliver “Better Ghana Agenda” in the area of social amenities to the people of Dangme East District which is one of the electoral strongholds of the National Democratic Congress.
The project, this newspaper gathered, is a full asphalt road and will cost the central government amount of 27 million Ghana cedis.
It would be recalled that Today in its Thursday, October 15, 2015 edition with a banner headline: “Fix Our Roads Now or Else…Ada-Foah Chiefs Charge Gov’t,” reported that the chiefs and residents of neglected and rejected Ada-Foah in Dangme East District have lashed out at the Mahama administration over the poor state of roads in the area.
Consequently, in that report the paper stated that chiefs and people of Ada-Foah have served notice of their intention to stage protests against the government to compel it to refurbish deteriorating roads in the area. The report continued that the angry chiefs and people of Ada-Foah complained of the bad nature of the road from Kasseh (Ada Junction) which links Ada-Foah, and from Big Ada to Azizanya in Dangme East.
But the government in a quick response moved to redeem that promise of giving the Kasseh to Ada Foah road a face-lift. Speaking in an interview, some residents, particularly commercial drivers, who ply the road could not hide their joy. They lauded President Dramani Mahama for fulfilling his campaign promise made to them during their annual Asafotufiam Festival in 2015 to fix the Kasseh-Ada-Foah road.
However, even though some residents commended the President for tarring the road, majority of them were of the view that the road network from Sege to Lolonya (22km) and Sege to Mepe was also in the very bad state and called on President Mahama to do something about it before the country goes to the polls.

On one side, the ndc politician tinks dat Ghanaians have short memory so roads should be constructed in a week before elections thus being fresh in the minds of the electorate. Then on the other side, is it fair that what the electorates deserve for years is only provided in few days to elections. aaaaabah "the case you are eating it is good ? there is God oooooo"
