Legal Practitioner Abraham Amaliba has questioned the competence of the individuals being nominated as ministers by President Akufo-Addo.
According to him, the president appears to be selecting individuals who failed as ministers under former President John Kufuor.
Speaking on the Morning Starr Friday, Amaliba who is also a member of the opposition NDC’s legal team, said the appointments made so far do not reflect the NPP’s mantra of “ we have the men to govern”.
“Their mantra was that they have the men to rule and they made it look like the NDC didn’t have competent people to govern the country, but look at the appointment so far; they are not that impressive.
“Who can say for instance that Mathew Opoku Prempeh will be better for Education than Professor Jane Naana Opoku Agyeman, and even in Defence; will anyone say Nitiwul is better than Dr. Kumbour?”
He continued: “Clearly, you could tell that Nana Addo has just recycled, failed Ministers who worked with Kufuor and nominated them once again.
The NPP said they have the men, I am surprised at the kind of men they are giving us”.

Amaliba should spare us his childish analysis. What significant contribution has Prof Naana Agyemang made to the educational sector since she became the sector Minister?Upon what basis is he making the comparison? The fact that one is a professor does not mean that he or she can be a better Minister than somebody who is not a professor. In this country, there were a lot of people who were not professors but have been perceived to have performed better as Ministers than people who were professors.
Ghana and paper qualifications. Can anyone tell me what the prof who was the education minister did to develop or to transform education in Ghana. She allowed her arrogant deputy to do all the talk and acted as if he was the boss. She was a failure as an education minister. The nominee for education is a surgeon but we should judge him based on his performance not his academic qualifications. It is only in Ghana that we prefer to appoint a lecturer just because he's got a doctorate degree in economics as a head of B.O.G to a reputable banker of a commercial bank. This attitude needs to be changed.
