The Minister of Gender, Children and Social Protection, Otiko Afisah Djaba says she is humbled by the support Ghanaians gave her when she decided to stand for the truth and candour in her appointment saga before the Appointments Committee.
“I am very grateful to the good people of this country; they’ve made me understand that if you are fair and firm and stand your grounds it pays off. I am 55 yrs, and if I don’t learn to speak the truth now, at what point in life will I be honest in my ways,” she told sit-in host Kwaku Owusu Adjei on Anopa Kasapa on Kasapa 102.5 FM Wednesday.
The Minister was met with some challenges in her vetting and subsequent approval by parliament, but the former claimed that the problems will spur her on so she’ll be forthright in her office as a Minister in the interest of the state.
“Life without challenges is no life. I thank God they have approved my appointment. The Ministry I’ll be handling, there are many opportunities for me to assist in solving our social and cultural problems prevailing in our society, and I won’t relent to give off my best and work hard in that Ministry.
Madam Otiko Djaba was approved by parliament amidst controversy over her confirmation by the House.
She, however, was approved with 152 votes on the floor during balloting on Tuesday, despite the Minority boycott of the process.
She was part of the second batch of Ministers, sworn in Tuesday at the Flagstaff House by the President.

Hon Otiko Djaba, you stood your grounds of speaking the truth as you swore on oath to speak the truth and nothing but the truth. if because, you wanted to be vetted and approved to be a Minister by succumbing to apologise for your comments during the heated 2016 political campaign, then that would have been a case of (adu konu, dorme levo)70
Otiki, i do not suport your firmness even though i support the NPP. becareful about those who are singing your praises for being harsh and insulting your own brother as u said. it wondnt hve taken any thing from you if you had appoligised to your brother. trust me those words you used on him were unpalatable and you could have said sorry if he felt offended and that you only meant to critise but not attach him as a person am sure would have still been a minister. you a sowing a evil seed and will definately bounce back dont blame anybody wen it happens
see these ndc ***barred word***...has any of those morons in the ndc party apologized to nana when they told him he was short and could never be a president...if u see mahama as your god go and worship him...***barred word***
This woman is a real assssss hole. How do you have the guts to be grateful to Ghanaians for your despicable display of schit at the vetting committee and think Ghanaians support you. Very insane woman.
Be grateful to those Npp fuuuuulls in parliament who approved you and not those of us right thinking Ghanaians, because there is nothing any other Ghanaians did to ensure your approval. Do you think all Ghanaians are as ediots as Npp Mps in parliament? Certainly, not I. Even Ursula, who everyone knows had been arrogant had turned a new leaf, but for you to think any right thinking Ghanaian support you is figment of your own imagination. We are not living in animalss farm.
You are the Best. I admire you so much.
ITS BETTER TO BE FIRM IN THE TRUTH THAN NDC LIES AND THIEEEEVERY.JUST RAISE YOUR HEAD HIGH AND PERFORM THE DUTIES ASSIGN TO YOU.MAY GOD GUIDE YOU.
OTIKO, you are my woman of the Century, mark those 1d.1ots NDC people boot for boot and insult for insult that is all. They don't have monopoly over A.G.Y.IMSEM in Ghana
What is firmness about being a ***barred word***, Otiko. Its often said, pride comes before a fall
Am happy for u honourable. I strongly supported u cos of ur boldness and carriage to speak the truth and stand by it even at the face of adversity. Wat makes me more happy is, if u have been able to face the president now ex with the truth without fear, then u can indeed fight for women and children who needs to be liberated from their wicked husbands/masters. U r warmly welcome.
