The Minority in Parliament are vowing to block the appointment of the Minister-designate for Tourism, Arts & Culture, Madam Catherine Afeku, when the house sits today to debate the passing of nominees that were vetted earlier this week – www.entertainmentgh.com can state!
According to the leadership of the Minority, the failure of the Minister-designate to undertake her National Service may not see her get the appointment as Minister.
During her vetting session, Madam Catherine disclosed that, she could not do her National Service because she was not in the country at the time.
The Minority claim that, they will approach the matter the same way they did to Madam Otiko Afisa Djaba, the Minister for Gender, Children and Social Protection, who was eventually passed after the majority out-voted the minority when her situation went into ‘crunch time’.
The Minority, however, say that, the Minister-designate would be cleared if she is able to attain a waiver from the National Service Secretariat – www.entertainmentgh.com can state!
www.entertainmengh.com learns that, the Minister-designate has already started working, putting structures in place and consulting major stakeholders in anticipation of her getting the appointment by the close of the week.
