Gender Minister Afisa Otiko Djaba has embarked on a new campaign in which she wants men to help women attain their topmost ambitions. The 'He For She' campaign she said is to let men in Ghanaian society know that women are equal partners in whatever endeavour they undertake.
Speaking to Joy News about the new campaign, she said this is a break from the societal norm where women are always walking behind men but rather both men and women should walk side by side as ordained by God. "We have to be partners in life but because our men have forgotten about the role mothers plays in their lives, we are going to get them to be the 'He For She' ambassadors," she said.
She said the former National Democratic Congress (NDC) Member of Parliament for Akwatia would lead the campaign saying he is her brother and she expects him to help her make the initiative a success.
It is believed that Mr Jamal who was also the Deputy Minister for Employment & Labour Relations is the one fueling such ridicule considering how the two slugged it out during the campaign.
The first time MP who beat the NDC's Baba Jamal in the December 2016 parliamentary election was ridiculed earlier this year after making a statement on the floor of parliament.
"I don't want Akwatia and other people to think that he is the one leading the Mercy Ama Sey ridicule in the media and all over the place," she added. Mr Jamal polled 15,905 votes while Ama Sey whom he described as a hairdresser garnered 21,433 of the total valid votes cast.
But the Gender Minister believes once he bears the title of "an Honourable" for being a former MP, he would make a good ambassador to push the campaign.
"Also, as an indigene of Akwatia, it is in his interest for Ama to flow and look good," she added.

This minister is more than ***barred word*** and she no nothing
Minister Otiko Djaba, I think you need to slow down a little and think through your actions and thoughts. There are somethings you can change with the snap of your fingers but there are others that must come gradually. The minds of the people must be prepared before some of these shockers. You seem to be a fine person but go easy because the position is not you and you are not the position. You are occupying it for just a little while.
Otiko Djaba, stop saying childish things. Ghanaians rejected Baba Jamal and NDC for a reason. But here you are, saying the things that will send NPP back to opposition. Do you think that Ghana can only be managed by NPP of NDC people? Aren't there other people who can do more for Ghana than the NDC people you want to rely on? There are more important things to handle than this childish He for She nonnnsense you are advocating. If you are not serious about your ministerial appointment, move aside for someone serious. You are disgracing NPP.
WITH all YOUR SO CALLED BIG ENGLISH AND YOUR LAW CERT. THE HAIRDRESSER STILL BEAT YOU WITH THOUSANDS OF VOTES TO BE THE MP OF THE PEOPLE FROM AKWATIA.
women should play the role of a she and not that of a he. women should be submissive to their husbands.
Hon. Ama Sey the majority of Ghanaians and the people of Atiwa Love you to the max. Baba Jamal and his Ndc will surly be in opposition for long with this kind of behavior .
Otiko!!!! shine your eyes oooo......
YOU A CHILD AND CANNOT READ THROUGH THE LINES.
WHERE ARE THE MEN IN NPP ?
