A member of the Council of Elders of the New Patriotic Party, George Ayisi Boateng, has told critics of the Akufo-Addo government that the GHC1.5 billion budgetary allocation to the presidency will be used judiciously.
Many Ghanaians, including the minority members of parliament have criticised the government for allocating a total of GHC1.56 billion to the office of the president for its operations, provision of goods and services and other capital expenditure.
The amount which was contained in the 2017 budget presented to parliament on March 2, will also fund the six newly created ministries which will operate under the office of the president.
But responding to critics on Monday on Onua FM’s current affairs show, Ghana Dadwene, Mr Ayisi Boateng urged Ghanaians to be patient with President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, especially on his decisions.
He told host of the programme, Nana Yaw Opare: “We will not use the money for pampers and hampers.
We shall not use it for khebabs and tea. Mr Ayis Boateng said Nana Akufo-Addo’s government which has promised to protect the public purse will be accountable to the people, saying “By the end of the year, we shall see probity and accountability. I don’t believe in political equalization and Nana Addo will protect the public purse.”
According to him, “Nana Addo has good intensions for the country” and that his governance will bring out the difference between the New Patriotic Party and the National Democratic Congress

I think you are perfectly right. This Ayisi Boateng man is not an elder. He is one of the oldmen who talk without reasoning. His age and his speeches does not much. He talks carelessly. Ayisi Boateng is showing the same mistakes and arrogance which NDC members were showing or exhibiting and we all complained about it. Why can;t he explain what the money will be used for instead of giving Ghanaians a ***barred word*** talk?
If over 200 vehicles were disposed off to NDC members and their cronies by the past NDC Government, how is the NDC expecting the current government to run the Presidency efficiently and effectively if these vehicles are not replaced. Are they not going to be replaced from the approved budget? Return the 'give away' vehicles and the budget will be reduced. I do not want to quote Sheik I.C. Quaye Sxxxxxs.
So far, His Excellency Nana Addo has been apt and accurate in his appointments BUT as for Ayisi Boateng as part of the counsels of elders, the president may consider it again because Ayisi Boateng is not an elder. He has not got what it takes to be an elder. An elder should be able to reduce the already tense bi-polar political extremism in the country. I think an elder should be able to appeal to both sides of the divide. Yes he is a renowned economist very loud on FM stations in Kumasi, defending whatever is NPP and denigrating whatever is NDC. In my opinion, I think he is fit for a cereal caller and not a Counsel of State member. Nana kindly think again and use my argument to advise the rest of the elders who would want to descend into the gutter of political partisanship. Thank you.
Yes it's a good decision, I congratulate Nana addo and his ministers for using the money wisely and saying at the end of the year there 'll be accountability unlike yaanom NDC who arrogantly tell us that they use the money for chinchinga and pampers for their girlfriends abroad OMG NDC, U CAN NEVRR EVER EVER COMPARE YOURSELF TO NPP Whom God has chosen ,u can say whatever u want to deceive the people but better believe me they now know the difference nd can read between the blurred lies of yours ***barred word*** people
PLEASE TELL US WHAT IT WILL BE USED FOR.....EIHHH POLITICIANS SAME SAME..YOU DONT THINK THIS IS TOO MUCH...BUT RATHER DEFENDING IT...PEOPLE ARE COMMITTING SUICIDE...BUSINESSES ARE STILL STRUGGLING...NHIS HAS NOT BEEN PAID FOR HOW MANY MONTHS NOW...PETROL PRICE IS STILL GOING UP...YOU HAVE NOT REDUCED ANY TARIFF...ETC...BUT YOU HAVE ALLOCATED 1.5 BILLION GH CEDIS TO THE PRESIDENCY...FOR WHAT MY GOODNESS..
