Information Minister, Mustapha Hamid, has rubbished suggestions that President Nana Akufo-Addo’s three-day tour of the Ashanti Region is connected to recent troubles within the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in that part of the country.
Mr. Hamid maintained that, the President’s trip to the NPP stronghold in the wake of recent tensions was merely coincidental.
Addressing a news conference on Friday, Mr. Hamid explained that “this is an institutionalized arrangement where every month he will visit a region. We cannot envisage what trouble will come next month, when we are going to the next region, but if by accident, something happens and he is there, it is purely accidental.”
“It has nothing to do with this matter otherwise it wouldn’t be institutionalized. It would just be to go to the Ashanti Region and wait till there is trouble in another region, but that is not the case. Every month, once he is in Ghana, he will make sure he’s in a region to interact with people.”
Recent tensions
A vigilante group with NPP affiliations, the Delta Force, stormed the premises of the Ashanti Regional Coordinating Council, demanding the removal of the Regional Security Coordinator, George Adjei last Friday.
The Ashanti Regional Chairman of the NPP, Bernard Antwi Boasiako, was subsequently summoned to the Flagstaff House to explain circumstances under which the Delta Force raided the Regional Coordinating Council, vandalised property and assaulted George Adjei.
The group has since apologised to the President for the incident and pledged its support Regional Security Coordinator.
Mr. Hamid further revealed that, President Akufo-Addo will visit the central market “to be able to experience what the cost of living is for the citizens of our country.”
He added that, the President will also have an encounter with the media as “meeting with the media is important for furthering our democratic governance arrangement.”
The President will also visit the abandoned Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital Maternity block.

akuffo addo is not a man of himself, this is what happens when you want to be president by force regardless of age. if you don't sleep on the job then tend to to believe in whatever uselessss information you are given. no wonder the controversial owusu bempah openly and disgracefully give him sword of strength this is an inward and typical kokoase behavior. the next step will be the otabil's and catholic bishops to give cutlass of strength, then the imams will give him koose of strength and ewe chiefs will give him vodoo of strength. what a shame. then occupy ghana will give him occupyof strength. ARE WE SERIOUS AS A NATION. Then MP's will fight for what is open bribe as compared to inward bribe
WASTE! WHY SHOULD THE PRESIDENT GO ON A THANK YOU TOUR WHEN ELECTRICITY IS MORE EXPENSIVE THAN RENT? HE IS JUST WASTING OUR MONEY
Responsibility of an information minister is not to justify whatever the president does. This Hamid guy is in the business of justifying whatever Sheikh Akufo Addo does whether good or bad. As l have said before, this guy embodies bad communication posture and his attitude as a communication officer will bring NPP down. Stop justifying every thing your boss does. It is irrelevant. Learn to keep quite . l guess the NPP has a communication minister. Let him or her do the talking and stop acting the role of a spokesperson. Ghana needs competent men and women to turn the fortunes of the country around. So far we have not got any. Parliamentarians are taking bribes etc. Where is the country heading if its representatives are corrupt. These are the serious issues Hamid must address with his boss and stop justifying any move or travel trip his boss makes . So irrelevant and waste of time and effort.
Good one there, at least visiting every regional capital will help him understand which project needs to be finished and also new projects that needs to be done.
