A religious group, Movement for the Kingdom Image (MFKI), has asked the Minister of Employment and Labour Relations, Ignatius Baffuor Awuah, to draw back his comments against devotion at work places.
According to the group, such comments are evil-driven and smacks of hypocrisy on the part of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) government that claims to be religious.
A statement released and signed by Osempakani Kaakyire Kofi, President of the MFKI on Friday said: “We believe his statement or order is evil-driven, careless and an evidence of the hypocrisy of the NPP government which he (minister) is part [of] and therefore must retract his statement or order immediately. The Movement for the Kingdom Image (MFKI) were shocked at the swiftness of this government who painted a clear picture to Ghanaians that they are ambassadors of God during the campaign period and thereby theming their campaign as “THE BATTLE IS THE LORD’S”, and just seven months into government they are booting activities of God from their governance.
“Again, the MFKI believes that using 10-15 minutes to invite God into the activities at the workplaces can never be blamed for low productivity whatsoever. Therefore, we discern that the minister is making himself available for the program of the devil to be accomplished. There has never been an incident where staff of any institution spent more than 10-15 minutes for their pre-work or post-devotion in the offices. We do not see the basis of his order for having a plan to eliminate God from the land.”
It added : “Is his comments to inform Ghanaians that even at the Flagstaff House, the President and his team have abandoned God by abolishing morning devotion at the seat of government where the president who used the Bible for his campaign?
“The minister should not think they can “fool” God and go unpunished because even Israel when they showed ungratefulness to God after saving them from Egypt, God punished them. We want the minister to retract his disaster-inviting order to save Ghana from God’s wrath.”

What is the so-called group talking about. Lets be serious for once. If you have Hindus, Hare Krisnas, Traditionalists etc. all working in government offices, how do you apportion the prayer time. With all these prayers, we are still behind in terms of development. Hope you have traveled before. Go to the UK and start praying in your work place because you more holier than the Pope and see what will happen to you.
Government institutions have diverse workforce and hence diverse religious faith and it's the responsibility of the government to ensure that no religious faith is bullied and/or relegated to the background. Therefore, government is obligated to enforce secularism in the its institutions. Private institutions, I think, should be given a leeway to decide on this. The society is growing so complex that conservative clergy may have to accommodate some liberialism.
Ghana and South Korea attained independence on the sane day and year South Korea is a buddist country and Gnana is a Christian country attending prayers and fasting all day long yet where is Ghana in terms of development. Compare china, india Thailand ,Malaysia etc which are non christian nations but progressing economically Pray to your God in private and he who knows everything will reward you accordingly not at offices. Sit down and work avoid corription and be innovative period.
The Minister of Employment and Labor Relations is doing his/her work within the framework of "DemonCracy" and not "TheoCracy". Ghana is currently a "DemonCratic" Country. The "Demon" is in control and has made it clear that he/she is here to "kill, steal, and destroy" whatever is of God(ness) or "Divine". Corruption, dishonesty, tricks, lies, backstabbing, killings, chaos, frustration, tension, stress, anxiety, evil are the hallmarks of DemonCracy. If Ghana were a "TheoCratic Country", the values that would be espoused will be honesty, truth, accountability, integrity, credibility, personal peace and social justice.
My brothers and sisters, assuming we have a Moslem president and vice-president,what is going to happen to morning devotion at the flagstaff house? Why do we behave as if Ghana is a Christian state. So if our Moslem brothers and sisters should insist that they also want to observe their 5 prayers a day, what is going to happen to productivity. Let's thread and cautiously.
Why do we pray so much as a nation, yet so poor, underdeveloped, and so CORRUPT?
EVEN WITH PRAYERS THEY HELP CREATE LOT AND SHARE. THESE PRAYERFUL PEOPLE DO NOT TRANSLATE THE DIVINE ENERGIES THEY OBTAIN AFTER THEIR PRAYERS TO HELP GHANA. THEY PRAY TO BE ABLE TO STEAL GOVT MONEY. THAT IS ALL. SOMEBODY SHOULD TELL ME WHAT THESE PRAYERS HAS DONE FOR ALL THE MINISTRIES IN GHANA.
Massa they can pray in their homes before going to work. Rather advice them to stop stealing government money through bribes and falsification of documents.
Nothing wrong with prayer, but if you have to start work at 8, then you need to damn well make sure you're there at 7.30am so you can pray BEFORE work! You don't pray and cut into work time. There's s time for everything, the Bible tells us!
COME TO UK AND PRAY IN THE OFFICE FOR 10MINS AND YOU'LL SEE YOUR GBEMI. GHANAIANS PRAY AND GOSSIP ABOUT OTHERS JUST AFTER THE PRAYERS. WHAT STOPS THESE PEOPLE FROM PRAYING BEFORE SETTING OFF TO WORK??? GIVE TO CAESAR WHATS DUE HIM AND TO GOD WHATS DUE HIM, JESUS SAID
