Seasoned journalist Kwesi Pratt has likened Ghana’s First President, Dr. Kwame Nkrumah to the ilk of German-born physicist, Albert Einstein.
Speaking to host Nana Yaw Kesse on Peace FM’s Kokrokoo, Kwesi Pratt noted that Dr. Kwame Nkrumah’s achievements are second to none in Ghana.
The dyed-in-the-wool Nhrumahist stated that Nkrumah was a “cultural icon” whose impact and personality is even a subject of study by some African countries.
He cited South Africa to have established an institute in Nkrumah’s name. The Kwame Nkrumah Ideological Institute, he noted, is an establishment in South Africa to study the ideologies of Osagyefo Dr. Kwame Nkrumah.
Kwesi Pratt believed Nkrumah falls in the category of Einstein and German philosopher, Karl Marx and so arguments about whether or not he is the founder of Ghana are mere waste of time and energy.
Albert Einstein was a German-born theoretical physicist who developed the theory of relativity, one of the two pillars of modern physics. His works are well known for its major influence in the philosophy of physics.
Karl Marx, on the other hand, was a German philosopher and revolutionary socialist who published “The Communist Manifesto” which introduced their concept of socialism and forms the basis of the Marxism. The Marxist ideologies are in modern times inculcated into academic courses in various institutes with his ideas shared across the globe.
These are great people of all time whose works have influenced generations globally.
To Kwesi Pratt, “Nkrumah is in the Einstein, Karl Marx and so on (category). That is the category he belongs to. So, for me, the thing about whether or not he’s the founder is waste of time; complete waste of time. He’s among five of the most influential people in the world over a 1000 years”.
Mr. Pratt later recounted his trip to the United States years ago, revealing that there’s an area in Los Angeles where Dr. Kwame Nkrumah is also worshipped as a “Prophet of God”.

A prophet? Mohammed is considered a prophet of religion and Islam has survived the test of time. Jesus is considered a prophet of religion and Christianity has survived the test of time. Agreed without admitting that Kwame Nkrumah is a prophet of politics, has his political party, the CPP survived the test of time? Massa Kwasi Pratt we are tired of your ***barred word***!
I guess this Kwesi Pratt knows what Albert Einstein did in respect of quantum theory of physics to have the effrontery of equating Kwame Nkrumah to Einstein. Pratt also ignorantly goes ahead to refer to Nkrumah as a prophet; I wonder what of kind prophet he is referring to. Kwame Nkrumah was a socialist who inherited six millions british pounds from the colonial government just after independence and ended up squandering a good share of the money on African Unity politics; including giving Guinea more than a million pounds to resuscitate their economy after Guinea had driven the French out of their country. Now wonder the Guineans think of Nkrumah as their savior. Meanwhile, Nkrumah’s CPP did not know how to generate incomes from taxes and exports, since almost all businesses were state owned and as a result non-profit making ventures. There were very little or few private businesses at the time of Nkrumah; and without private business ventures it was impossible for the government to generate incomes and the populace to be rich, with the exception of the Ashanti cocoa farmers. The good thing Nkrumah did was to build a lot educational infrastructures and the Akosombo Dam. But when the money the British colonial masters left behind got exhausted, the Nkrumah was at his wit’s end as to how he was going to get the financial support, since he had aligned himself with the socialist/communist countries at the time. And that was his end. So it stands to reason that Nkrumah’s ideology could not stand the test of time and it would never stand today’s economic dispensdation.
THESE STCHUUUUUPID CPP/NDC PEOPLE ARE EXTREMELY SHALLOW MINDED, MENTIONING NKRUMA'S NAME AS IF NKRUMAH IS GOD. HOW STCHUUUUPID!!!!!
Our National Pledge clearly answers the question.: The National Pledge I promise on my honor to be faithful and loyal to Ghana my motherland, I Pledge myself to the service of Ghana, with all my strength an with all my heart. I promise to hold in high esteem, our heritage, won for us through the BLOOD OF OUR FATHERS: and I Pledge myself in all things, to uphold and defend the good name of Ghana. So help me God. Gleaning from our beautifully crafted National Pledge, it is clear that Ghana was founded by the blood of our fathers and NOT father. Dr Kwame Nkrumah formally attained independence for Ghana but there were others who laid the foundation for the event. The foundation begun historically from the era of Enlightenment through Constitutional Development, Nationalism, Emergence of Political Parties, Patriotism and finally to Nationhood. All eras produced eminent groups and people who contributed to the founding of Ghana and collectively, they must be celebrated as FOUNDING FATHER. This in a way will provide a space to celebrate eminent personalities like J.J Rawlings, John Kuffuor, John Atta Mills et al as the FOUNDERS OF MODERN GHANA.
MR PRATT WHERE ARE YOU ALSO WORSHIPING HIM AS YOUR PROPHET IN GHANA? IF NKRUMAH IS STILL ALIVE AND YOU ARE IN HIS PARTY CPP HE WILL DRIVE YOU FROM THE PARTY, BECAUSE YOU ARE CORRUPT.YOU ARE CPP MAN BUT ALWAYS FIGHTING FOR NDC. BECAUSE OF WHAT YOU ARE GETTING FROM THEM. LET ME TELL YOU THAT YOU ARE NOT THE ONLY PERSON KNOWS OUR MOTHER LAND GHANA HISTORY. TELL ME WHAT YOU ALSO HAS DONE TO REMEMBER YOU IN FUTURE IF YOU ARE NOT ALIVE.
So.Nkrumah is Einstein of Ghana so what?does it out good on my table or what.Look all this hulabaloo on Nkeumah as founder or whatever is ***barred word***.The opposition was almost dead at the delivery of ITS system so why being them a bit back and energise them with all this needless attentin.Akufgo Addo doesn't need this just focus and keep building All these good speech he gave at the UN is not Bering heard,SIS os drowned get keep the main thing the main thing.Nkrumah is Einstein and so what.Go get a life.
Was Kwame Nkrumah a god? We have to think and move ahead as a people. Enough of all this noise. Nkrumah is gone, and its good to remember him. But is also good to remember others too. We should move on and built our nation. That is the most important thing to do now. What we need to ask ourselves now is what is everyone doing to make Ghana the nation that we all want to live in and what nation do we want to leave for the future generation....
I don't understand why Ghanaians cannot separate passion for post independence great works of Nkrumah from the pre-independent Freedom fighters. Mandela is great due to his pre-independent struggles. After all SA was developed before Mandela was released Back to Nkrumah all the greatness of Nkrumah was after independence. So Nkrumah was the best president Ghana ever had but he cannot be the bonafide lone founding father. What was Nkrumah's contribution before independence apart from forming another political party to contest UGCC . He took Ghana towards accelerated development perfect. Was the principle to hand over self government not established before Nkrumah was brought in. Nkrumah developed Ghana but it never be said that Nkrumah founded Ghana
Yes, that's the irrelevant Kwesi Pratt alright, a ***barred word*** pundit who has gone past his 'sell by date.' You are a laughing stock and no one takes you seriously, not even NDC.
And so Pratt Where has this taken Ghana Is all about talk talk in Ghana here When other countries are seriously working to develop we are here talking on radio
