The Member of Parliament for North Tongu, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, has served noticed to President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to sack Ghana’s High Commissioner to South Africa, Mr George Ayisi-Boateng, for his comment that his priority as a government representative in that country is members of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) before any other Ghanaian.
Mr Ayisi-Boateng, in an interview with TESCON members at the Kumasi Technical University over the weekend indicated that since he is representing the NPP government, NPP members are his priority.
Mr Ayisi-Boateng said: “This government is doing its best to create job opportunities, and me for instance, I told my people over there [that] it is because of NPP that I’m here so the NPP man is my priority. I told them when NDC was in power, it was Kwesi Ahwoi who was there, now we are in power, so Ayisi-Boateng is here with you. My topmost priority is the problems of an NPP person before any other Ghanaian, take it or leave it…
“Indeed, I’m not boasting but I’ve started meeting the NPP groups. Every weekend, I meet some group members and I tell you if I had my way, every job opportunity that will come will go to a TESCON member before any other person. And I know my colleague appointees also have the same feeling except that, because of IMF, we cannot do anything now…”
Reacting to this statement on 505 on Class91.3FM on Monday, 30 October, 2017 Mr Ablakwa described the statement as “reprehensible, unacceptable and must be condemned in the strongest of terms”.
He averred that Mr Ayisi-Boateng should remember that he has been appointed as High Commissioner representing Ghana and not as an NPP’s High Commissioner.
“That is not the attitude you take to public office where you are paid by the tax payer…so we are calling on His Excellency, the President, to as a matter of urgency, recall the High Commissioner with immediate effect, and he must be given the sack because he doesn’t have the temperament, he doesn’t have the qualities to represent all of us in South Africa,” Mr Ablakwa stated.

This has been the norm in this country unless we don't want to be realistic as a nation. What Mr Ayisi said isn't anything other thanthe truth and the real practice of our past leaders.
EHHH Ghana, were we not here when Prez. Fiifi Atta Mills dedicated on of the days to be meeting party members and ask his appointees to same for PARTY MEMBER first?
I think the ambassador is just being realistic and that is exactly what some Ghanaians don't want to hear. He is there because of the npp and that Is the gospel truth. This is a sign of maturity and truthfulness in politics. He is not hiding behind any body to be a hypocrite. God bless you ambassador. Its me Nene Niatse
Indeed Ayisi Boateng don't deserve such position.NPP are u lacking qualified members indeed
I was very disappointed when I first heard the story on the airwaves, but I became more disappointed after I realized those irresponsible comments came from someone in an advanced age, probably a septuagenarian, with so much experience in politics and life. This High Commissioner should have known better and set an example for the younger and less-experienced ones to follow. Mr. Ayisi-Boateng does not deserve to bear the "H.E." title. He must resign with immediate effect.
Ayisi-Boateng should bow down his head in shame and realise that NPP being in power today was due to the massive approval of floating voters. Well, 2020 is just around the corner and we are going to punish them for such reckless statements.
Ayisi Boateng ! Apuuuuu put t)). These are the competent and wise men Rev Martey was calling for? Apuuuuu t)).
NPP FOR THE RECORDS LET US CONDEMN HIS UTTERANCES. IT A BIG SHAME IN THE FACE OF DEMOCRACY. IF NDC DID IT IT DOESNT MEAN ITS CORRECT. GHANA REIGNS FIRST BEFORE ANY PARTY PLEASE. I LIKE HOW OMAN FM MORNING SHOW HOST AND HIS PANEL CONDEMN HIS UTTERANCES. EVEN IF YOU WANT TO DO THAT WHAT IT IS NOT NEEDED THAT YOU VOICE IT OUT TO THE PUBLIC. DIPLOMACY IS NEEDED IN HANDLING AND TACKLING ISSUES. PLEASE LETS BE CIRCUMSPECT IN OUR UTTERANCES. WORKING FOR ALL PLS.
This is serious, after using our tax money to pay him. Is it only NPP members that pay tax
All of you descending on Mr.Ayisi-Boateng are hypocrites. What he said is exactly what has been happening since the inception of the fourth republic. In the first place Mr.Ayisi-Boateng is the High Commissioner to the Republic of South Africa because NPP has formed the government otherwise he will be no where near it. Before NPP assumed the reins of power, the organising secretaries of the NDC were the districts and regional coordinators of NADMO. Why should NPP keep them at post when they've assumed power?I do not know the beef of those complaining;is it because he has said openly what every political appointee does when they are in power? When Kwesi Ahowi was the High Commissioner you will see him,his brother Ato and other NDC gurus at the First class of planes enroute to SA.Did they ever made those travelling privileges available to NPP members? What people must know is that democracy also means redistribution of appointments and wealth every election cycle. We do it and are doing it so don't let us pretend
