Seasoned Journalist, Abdul Malik Kweku Baako Jnr. has thrown his weight behind the demonstration by the opposition National Democratic Congress members against the Akufo-Addo government over a military agreement with the United States of America, saying in principle, it is "their right".
This he said, is irrespective of the fact he "does not agree with them on the issue they have raised".
The demonstration dubbed "Ghana First" organized by the party leadership against the ratified Ghana-US Defence Pact saw in attendance hundreds of Ghanaians on the streets of Accra.
The protestors wielded placards with various inscriptions to register their displeasure with the agreement between Ghana and the United States.
Speaking on Peace FM's "Kokrokoo", Mr. Baako argued that it's the fundamental right of the participants involved in the protest to hit the streets to push their agenda, and therefore stated emphatically that he will be the "biggest hypocrite on earth if I said anything negative against this demonstration. It’s within their right and it is good".
In support of this action, the seasoned journalist expounded that "if some Ghanaian citizens today are dissatisfied with what Parliament is doing and want to push their agenda, and they’re doing it legitimately; why, I must in principle say go on. Go on. I don’t have to agree with them on the issue they have raised but I have to (agree) support their right to go into the streets and demonstrate in accordance with Public Order Act. That, they have my full support”.

NATIONAL INTEREST FIRST. AFRICAN INTEREST FIRST. GOOD EXAMPLE.
NDC always whining and complaining. Can you say at least one positive thing about Nana apart from the extreme hate? Either you are ***barred word*** or you intentionally write f**lishness. The US gave Ghana $1billion a couple of year ago of which some was used to construct part of N1. The US left another $500million for ECG restructuring. America gave us AGOA(i am sure you are too dumb to know what this is) America helped us build the Akosombo dam. So Mr. Unwise Speech what is $20million? There is no $20million mentioned in this agreement so why do you insist it is part of this agreement? The US ambassador said that, they will invest $20million in Ghana Military in 2018. They will also leave behind most of the equipment after the training for the Ghana military. Do you know that the US gave Ghana naval ships for free? Stop the ignorance my brother. Watch and see the number of American companies who will come to Ghana as result of confidence in Ghana after this agreement. ExxonMobil(number 2 US company) is coming, Royal Caribbean is coming. HESS is here, Cargill is here already and a lot more. Marriot, Holiday Inn, Best Western are all American. Think about the direct and indirect employment as a result of this. Royal Caribbean will contribute immensely to cultural tourism, art centre and art craft industry. This can only be good for Ghana. America has its own faults but this is a good deal for Ghana.
Please Ghanians demonstrate against the Military USA Base in GHana. We do not need it. We are independent country. We are not having any border to America. We live peacefully with our neigbourhood countries and we do not want any invitation of terrorists in Ghana. No money on earth which they offer us will bring us further. we have to unite clean our country and have good infrastructure and be hard workers, love our country and build it up.
Thanks Mr Kwaku for saying the truth. Truth has no political color. Continue to say the truth always. I listened to some comments you made on radio, though hard issues and you are always within the truth whether it is NPP, NDC or CPP or whatever it is.
