Outspoken academician Professor Stephen Adei has urged Ghanaians to concern themselves with the input and output of the number of staffers at the Jubilee House – seat of government- rather than the large number.
The tall list of Presidential staffers has angered most Ghanaians with many accusing the President and his government of deceit after the NPP complained about the 768 staffers which was maintained by the Mahama administration.
Although some government spokespersons have tried to justify the numbers and attributed the situation to the thick number of civil servants left by the erstwhile Mahama administration, the explanation has failed to suffice. Some notable civil society groups including IMANI Ghana have criticized the numbers saying it is a drain on the national purse.
In a radio interview on Starr FM on Monday morning, Prof. Adei said the number is not as important as the value that will be derived from them. “On the surface, almost 1000 presidential staffers seems too big. The big questions is, what are they doing? In these things, the numbers per se are not the most important because it’s about input and output. The line of interrogation should be what the number of staffers are producing and not just talk about the numbers. I think Ghanaians must demand accountability,”
Meanwhile, a former Presidential staffer, Dr. Clement Apaak has stated that the number of staffers is an indication that president Akufo-Addo does not care about protecting the public purse.
“Why would you need multiples of technical advisors whiles you have appointed 110 ministers with multiple deputies…I cannot understand why you would need 7-8 technical advisors. Quite clearly, this is not the best way to go by issues,” the NDC MP said.

People that we hoped will fight for Ghana are now rather fighting against Ghana! Sorry, Professor!
Anyone saying numbers don't matter is ***barred word***! Too little and there's too much work for too few people but too many also leads to unnecessary bureaucracy,decision-paralysis and inefficiency. So in this instance the prof got it totally wrong to say the numbers don't matter! If l was ever taught by him this statement would make me question every thing but fortunately he never taught me!
Sorry of a professor Ghana is where it is because of people like you who dont speak the truth
So who solved Dumsor, JM or NANA....And how was is it solved?
You Sir are the biggest hypocrite academia has. It is indeed true what they say, book knowledge doesn't equate to common sense indeed. How can you saw numbers do not matter. have you discovered a new definition for efficiency?
Old man, wo ny3 correct wai! I think no sane person should ever take this fake Prof seriously again. All his rantings against Mahama were motivated by sheer tribalistic and partisan reasons. Now that his "right" people are in power, he sees them as the second coming of Christ. Oldman, if you think the size of personnel has no impact on productivity, then I have 100 teachers for you to recruit into your Christian High School. After all, you are passionate about effective teaching so based on your logic hiring five or more teachers for each subject will produce great results. All I ask you is to pay them from your own pocket!
It appears Musa Ali is talking like his block headed is not properly screwed on his body. Your economic jargons and calculations tell you that by merely introducing free SHS means the economy has improved. It is only a matter of time for the country to to come to terms with real challenges associated with the scheme. Go and check the conditions of the institutions you mentioned over arrears of payments due them. Thnx to God dumsor was solved before Nana Addo took over.
Ghanaba or whatever you called yourself, I guess your head needs to be examined, with all the large numbers, electricity bill has been reduced, free SHS have come to stay, teachers allowances has been restored, no more dumsor, all these within a year and four months, eighty years Mahama couldn't achieved all this.
PEOPLE WHO ARE CRITICISING AKUFFO ADDO ARE CLUELESS OF NPP POLICY. MAHAMA FAILED AND HAD TO RELY HEAVILY ON IMF. HE WAS COMPELLED TO CUT DOWN EMPLOYMENT. NPP HAS AGENDA TO PEN EMPLOYMENT. IT STANDS TO LOGIC THAT IF AKUFFO ADDO CANNOT INCREASE EMPLOYMENT AT THE PRESIDENCY HOW COULD HE INCREASE ONE IN THE NATION. THE WIDE AGENDA OF NPP POLICIES HAVE TO BE CARRIED OUT AND MANAGED BY HUMAN RESOURCES. MAHAMA OFFICIALS WERE HUGE BECAUSE HE COULD NOT USE THEM TO CREATE WEALTH FOR THE NATION. AS A RESULTS THEY COMPETE TO STEAL THE LITTLE WEALTH EXISTING. HENCE THE RAMPANT CORRUPTION. HOW COULD MPS TAKE DOUBLE SALARIES FOR A LONG TIME WITHOUT BEING DETECTED BY HIS ADMINISTRATION. THE ACT WAS CLEAR MARK OF INCOMPETENCE OR AN ACT OF CORRUPTION BY A BUNCH OF CRIMINALS APPOINTED BY MAHAMA GOVERNMENT. THE INCIDENT HAS NOT BEEN EXPERIENCED IN ANY GOVERNMENT EXCEPT THE UNPRODUCTIVE MAHAMA REGIME. THE DIRECTION OF ARGUMENT POSE BY NDC ABOUT SIZE OF GOVERNMENT IS BASELESS. THE NUMBER DOES NOT MATTER IF THEY HAVE BEEN EMPLOYED TO PRODUCE RESULTS. GHANA IS STILL A THIRD WORLD WHERE MOST OF BUSINESS FOR THE STATE IS DONE AT THE GOVERNMENT LEVEL. THE ARGUMENT IS IMPORTANT ONLY WHEN IT FOCUSES ON PRODUCTIVITY AND NOT ON MERE NUMBER. IF TODAY GHANA IS CONSIDERED AS THE FASTEST GROWING ECONOMY WHEN ONLY A YEAR AND HALF AGO THE ECONOMY WAS NOSEDIVE TO SINK. SOME MEASURES WITH HUMAN RESOURCES HAS BE TAKEN TO CHANGE THE TREND. PEOPLE MUST MAKE INTELLIGIBLE ARGUMENT INSTEAD OF PROPAGANDA.
This dddirty stomach so called professor should be ignored.he has been given an appointment as a board member. Most of those staffers are either from the ashianti region or akyeam.
