The Ashanti Regional Minister, Simon Osei Mensah, has warned the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) to desist from “making noise” regarding the rehabilitation of roads in Kumasi, the regional capital.
According to him, the NDC stayed in political office for eight good years, yet it did not make any effort to fix the deplorable road network in Kumasi and the Ashanti Region in general.
Mr Osei Mensah said if the New Patriotic Party (NPP) administration, led by President Nana Akufo-Addo, has decided to fix the roads, the NDC has no moral right to criticize how the project is being executed.
Most of the NDC communicators in the city have started raising questions on radio about how the road projects are being carried out in the Kumasi metropolis.
Mr Osei Mensah, who is apparently troubled by the opposition party’s utterances, charged, “The NDC should shut up!” He claimed that the party has no moral right to either criticize or question how the project is being done.
“The NDC members should keep quiet and watch as we fix the deplorable roads in Kumasi,” he stated in an interview with King Edward of Hello fm. He pointed out, “The NDC had every opportunity to fix the roads. If they refused to fix the roads after eight years in political office, they should stop making noise about the project so that we (NPP) can have our peace and construct the roads to ease movement.”
According to the regional minister, most of the Kumasi roads, especially at Manhyia, Bantama, had been awarded on contract and so the NDC should keep mute and allow the NPP government to work.
