The Director of Public Affairs at the National Service Secretariat, David Prah, has called on the Criminal Investigations Directorate (CID) of the Ghana Police Service to invite former president John Dramani Mahama to answer questions regarding a statement given by embattled Ghana Football Association (GFA) President Kwesi Nyantakyi.
David Prah argued that Mr Nyantakyi, who has been banned by FIFA, could not have mentioned Mr Mahama’s name in his statement to the CID if he did not know what he was talking about.
He maintained that for the police investigation to complete, an invitation to Mr Mahama must be included.
Days after banned GFA boss was invited by the CID, reports emerged in sections of the media that his statement to the CID over allegations of corruption indicated that the immediate past president received $8 million from some investors ahead of the 2016 elections.
This allegation has since been denied by the camp of the former President as well as the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
But commenting on Anas Aremeyaw Anas’ investigative piece titled ‘Number 12: When Misconduct & Greed Become the Norm’ on Onua FM‘s current affairs show Ghana Dadwen, Mr. Prah, who doubles as the Eastern Regional Communication Director for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), insisted that the former President and the NDC cannot insulate themselves from the allegation, adding that the police must ensure that the public is served with fairness.
“I am of the conviction that the GFA boss could not be talking from a vacuum, the police must interrogate John Mahama too.
“His name was mentioned in the Kwesi Nyantakyi statement to the Police so the CID should invite him to answer questions.
“They are investigating alleged corruption and the former President’s name was mentioned so they must go after him,” he said.
Mr. Prah noted that “for now, there are doubts in our minds as well as the rest of Ghanaians and that must be cleared”.

Gimifo. Where in that video did you hear nyantakyi mention mahama's name? Your corrupt president and his vice as well as his chief of staff deputy and some of ministers were mentioned in the video. Even one of your MPS was fingered. If you are wise enough, you will rather ask the CID to invite them for questioning. What has mahama got to do with a group of thievves who have planned to take over the whole country. Your president is depriving galamsayers of their daily bread but is prepared to receive 5m as well as the vice 3m.
