The issue of the widely-reported introduction of new taxes and increase in already existing taxes by the Akufo-Addo-led administration is a clear indication of clueless and visionless government, according to the Bolgatanga Central MP, Isaac Adongo.
“You can’t have a government that cannot see beyond one year, if you have a government that cannot see beyond one year and they brought a 2016 budget which couldn’t even see beyond six months, so clearly this is a clueless government” he told Kasapa FM.
According to the Bolga Central legislator, the Akufo-Addo-led administration has deceived Ghanaians by telling the Ghanaian public that is was moving from taxation to production, only to turn around a few months on to impose new taxes on the people.
To him, government would only be worsening the plight and the sufferings of Ghanaians if it should go ahead with the increment or introduce new taxes.
“Nothing has changed in the last six months, some of the taxes are very draconian, the worst you can do is probably to rethink the position you took but you are rather escalating the situation” he said.
He argued that, revenue generation is not much of a problem for the NPP government but rather misplacement of priority is what is affecting the delivery of the Akufo-Addo government.
Although the minority has hinted on a decision by government to increase taxes and possibly introduce new taxes, there isn’t any official communication from government yet to that effect. The Finance minister, Ken Ofori-Attah will on Thursday, put out the midyear budget review in parliament.
Minority Spokesperson on Finance, Cassiel Ato Forson in a press conference yesterday predicted that the Finance Minister, Ken Ofori Atta would on Thursday announce a barrage of new taxes and reintroduce some old taxes scrapped in the 2017 budget, in his mid-year budget review.

So what vision do you have for Ghana Mr. Adongo??. Cancelling trainee allowances?, free shs, IDIF ?, or what best does your party have for Ghana??. ***barred word*** talk. Tell us your visions before you condemn what the current government is doing.
Sometimes I try to disguise myself but my tribal mark clearly shows where I come from. Recently in the country, almost every unfortunate statements comes from my brothers and sisters from the northern part of Ghana. From Suhuyini,Inusah Fuseini,Haruna Iddrisu,Ras Mubarak,Alfred Mornah,Mogtairi Bawa,Adongo etc. These reckless statements worsens the impression other people have for us.But we are also a right thinking members of a society. The earlier the northern caucus of the members of parliament meet to address these issues the better. It is time my brothers become circumspect when making statements in public and in parliament
I wonder what Kwabena and co are touting as achievements. Tell me what Nana did about the energy sector apart from fixing his cronies with assistants and personal aides to these assistants who have special advisors. This President is a disappointment to the old guys who are eyeing political positions, because the youth of the country doesn't see any sensse in electing old men. Hardships all over. Go to the teacher training colleges and tell them allowances are being paid and you'll receive the slaps of your life. Economic indicators you claim are good but prices are going up per hour, exporters and importers are folding up their businesses, GUTA wants to chew Bawumia and co. Corruption has become water at seat of government. Nyantakyi revealed all your secrets. Planting for food and jobs is a joke , farmers don't even know what that program is, if planting for food and jobs is working, why are prices of food items going up by the day? A finger of roasted plantain which used to be 1 cedi is now 3 cedi. I won't be surprised if you're one of the innumerable company of assistants without job descriptions at the flagstaff house. You're paid for doing nothing so you can't understand the market woman. Your finance minister came with a new mantra that earned him the popular name JAMES BOND ,and when they realized Ghanaians have seen the hypocrisy, they quickly changed the music, LOANS LOANS AND LOANS FOR THE BOYS is what you're doing. We're watching Nana closely.... He says one thing and turns his back only to do another. His mouth can't stop lying, may be OBINIM STICKER can help him
My problem with the minority is that they always predict and prempt evil things for the country without any proper basis but on propaganda. How visionless has the npp govt been? Comparing the records of the previous govt to the present administration, one can see marked improvements. The energy sector is one that stands tall. Dumsor is a thing of the past and has helped various establishments to cut down on their spending as compared in the previous administration. We now have allowances of teachers and nurses restored. 100,000 of unemployed graduates are to be taken on board. A Ghana card is under way which will ensure proper planning for the country. This process for 8 years was truncated by people who now are on rooftops shouting wolf. The economic indicators presently show positive growth that gives hope to sound economic recovery from the hopelessness of the past. If there was a govt which was visionless and hopeless, it was the NDC govt of which Mr Isaac Adongo was part. He now professes to be an economic wizard trying to display his stuff in parliament. It was a good thing that Dr. Asibey yeboah cut him to size. Tell me how many social intervention has the NDC introduced in this country. NONE. Every social programme in the country which was brought about by the NPP was opposed by the NDC. Which party has the country at heart? The finance minister has not presented the mid-year budget yet, but listen to the speculations being put out there by the minority. They have set their own questions and are providing their answers. Do you see what pettiness can lead to? SELF DESTRUCTION AND DELUSION! NDC should hold on to their propaganda but I would encourage Nana Addo and his team to progress steadily for we see light at the end of the tunnel. For those who will tickle themselves and profess doom for this country, let them stay in their little dark holes they have dug for themselves. Majority of Ghanaians are moving forward.
Double salary oooooooooooooo waiting
This Adongo guy must go and settle his outstanding loan to Nduom's bank and stop disturbing our ears... Tell this to the incompetent and greedy John bribe taker Ford Mahama......whose ministers were stealing by taking double salary for years. I will refer to them as some of the ghosts on our payroll.....
