Ghana’s former Ambassador to Algeria Kwadwo Nyamekye-Marfo has said stated the chances of the National Democratic Congress (NDC in the 2020 general elections is brighter than the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
He observed President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo’s government has disappointed Ghanaians, claiming it has not been able to fulfil many of its 2016 “juicy” campaign promises that influenced Ghanaians to vote for the NPP.
In his estimation, in an attempt to fulfil some of the promises such as the free Senior High Schools (SHSs), the One District, One Factory (1D1F) and the Planting for Food and Jobs (PFJs), the government has created a lot of mess.
The former ambassador was speaking to TV3 on the sidelines of a fund raising rally at Dumasua in the Sunyani West District of the Brong Ahafo.
He said the NDC and many Ghanaians in particular were strongly against the Double Track System, being introduced by the government to address the intake challenges of the free SHS programme arising out of lack of infrastructure.
Mr Nyamekye-Marfo expressed discomfort with high taxes and import duties, which he said were collapsing businesses, and worsening the socio-economic livelihood of many Ghanaians.
He thus urged supporters and members of the NDC to work hard to intensify their campaign and reach out to particularly voters at the grassroots and sensitize them on the need to return the party to power for the good of Ghanaians.
The former ambassador said the NDC could regain power if the party leadership, supporters and members demonstrate unity of purpose, identify and address peculiar challenges which affected the party in the 2016 electioneering.
He said petty squabbles, backbiting and internal wrangling would only divide the front of the party and jeopardize its chances in 2020.
The fund raising event was organised by the newly elected Sunyani West constituency executives of the NDC to seek public support towards the construction of an ultra modern office complex for the constituency, yet to be executed at Odumase at the cost of GHC500,000.
The 28 constituency executives have already acquired four acres of land, and raised GHC10,000 for the project, comprising offices, conference halls, and recreational centre, to commence.

the only reason ndc wants mahama to lead them to 2020 is that they want to have a good reason to spend the whole of 2021 at the supreme court to cover their joblessness. i see them sweeping the supreme court every morning be4 hearing. mahama only wants to do to Nana Addo what he did to him. mark my words, ndc will be at the supreme court challenging the 2020 results bcos i dont see how nana addo will sit down and allow mahama to win the elections.
Allow that is his opinion
Mr. Nyamekye Marfo, I am sure you are in agrement with your boss john mahama that Ghanaians forget things so quickly. But this term round let me tell you that Ghanaians have not forgotten the incompetency of john mahama and his cronies. Ghanaians have not forgotten the dumsor dum sor that we stayed in for the entuire period of john mahamas presidency even though he kept on assuring Ghanaians that it will come to an end. It end didnt come till Nana Addo and NPP took over the mantel of administration. Look Ghanaians have not forgotten the insults and insults john mamaha and ndc hipped upon our elders in the society. i.e. when Mogabi and his cronies were insulting the Okyenhene and others, john mahama was happy bcos he was telling them to do so. Even when mogabi and his montie 3 were jailed for threatening our judges, john mahama granted them presidential pardon cos he was instigating them to threaten them. Just mark it somewhere you same NDC will begin to blame yourselves for allowing non performing john mahama to come back to contest the 2020 elections cos this time round he john mahama is going to loose soo huge that ndc will be in disarray.
THE DAY DREAMING KOO NYAMEKYE, WHAT HAS YOUR NDC GOT TO OFFER GHANAIANS.
Koo Nyamekye will laugh at the wrong side of his mouth by 2020. NDC members will start joining NPP by 2020 and NDC will mbe a forgotten story. Mark my word. Who will sell his cloth to pay for the kid's school fees? Will kayayee vote for NDC to be taxed again? Aaaaaba masser, Ghanaians are not that ***barred word*** as you think.
You people are all just thinking of your own self-interest, not the interest of the party. You would think that after suffering such an embarrassing defeat, you will restrategise and work towards brightening the chances of the party in the 2024 elections. But no, everyone is seeking their self-interest, hence fixated on Mahama for 2020 which is just a non-starter. Also, you are still stuck in the old campaign mood - attacking the policies that the government is implementing, and also complaining that times are hard etc. That cannot win you any election. When were there ever good times in Ghana?
