Member of Parliament for Kumbungu constituency in the Northern Region, Ras Mubarak, has urged all the political parties not to 'put up' a candidate for the Ayawaso Wuogon vacant seat following the death of the MP for the constituency, Mr Emmanuel Kyeremanteng Agyarko.
“I do not think the NDC or any other party should put up a candidate for Hon. Emmanuel Kyeremanteng Agyarko‘s vacant seat. We should have a convention/agreement amongst ourselves that if a sitting MP dies, the party from which he was an MP should select a candidate to serve his remaining term. It saves the country and the parties resources. Democracy can be made less expensive. It all depends on us”, Mubarak wrote on his facebook page, Thursday.
Mr Kyeremanteng Agyarko, passed away at a hospital in the United States of America on Wednesday.
Born 10 December 1957 at Odumase Krobo in the Eastern Region, Mr Agyarko was a former Chief Executive Officer of the Food and Drugs Board (FDB) now FDA.
He had a Bachelor in Pharmacy which he obtained at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) in the year 1982.
He was Chairperson of the Environment, Science and Technology Committee in Parliament. He also served on the Government Assurance and Health Committees.
The late MP was a Fellow of the Ghana College of Pharmacists and was the brother of former Energy Minister, Boakye Kyeremateng Agyarko.
He was married with seven children.

I disagree with the guy who is talking cheap about not contesting a seat because the sitting MP has passed away.. The guy is supposed to be a law maker and if that is the way he thinks then we have a problem in our National Parliament. We are in a democracy and a by-election must take place .
no way....Awuah Darko...this is your chance....take the seat from the NPP.....
My brother it is sensible but unfortunately our country has not been run on real common sense...we just copy what some other countries are doing otherwise how shall we be having 275 Parliamentarians, over 100 Ministers, Countless 'Special Assistants'etc with this scarce resources..a country of 30 million people...compared that to the USA with 350 million...100 Senators, 435 House of Rep, 15 Cabinet Secretaries..We just want to create and loot whilst the majority of our citizenry suffer. I weep for this country
God, richly blessed you.
i will like to chat with u......
This is the best decision a nation like Ghana must consider. Bye election waste money, and other resources. It creates unnecessary tension in a constituency in which the election would be taking place. A law should be passed at parliament just as Hon. Mubarak has stated. It is done in other states and it can be applied in Ghana to speed up activities of the legislature and sustained the needed peace. Hon. Mubarak, 300% thumbs up.
The one who was plotting his removal from the flagstaff house and his name starts with P is Protozoa, makamaka he is the one. Recently he went saying the people should identify a land and blablabla. PROTOZOA go and take the seat in the by election and I will be shock if you did not come as the candidate in the by election. Greed will kill you. Agyarko may your gentle soul rest in your maker till we meet again
CHEAP POPULARITY - LET THE PARTY DECIDE!!!
Russia President, Vladimir Putin Says: Africa Is A Cemetery For Africans. "When an African becomes rich, his bank accounts are in Switzerland. He travels to France for Medical treatment. He invests in Germany. He buys from Dubai. He consumes Chinese. He prays in Rome or Mecca. His children study in Europe. He travels to Canada, USA, Europe for tourism. If he die, he will be buried in his native country of Africa. Africa is just a cemetery for Africans. How could a cemetery be developed?" *~Putin Asks!*
IT INTEREST ME SO MUCH THAT A SUGGESTION THAT GOES IN FAVOUR ONE EVEN IF THAT SUGGESTION MAKES NO SE*NSE PEOPLE IMMEDIATELY FALL FOR IT. WHY ARE BY-ELECTIONS HELD AFTER THE DEMISE OF A SITTING MP? IT IS TO ENSURE THAT AN EQUALLY CAPABLE PERSON IS SORT FOR AND IS ONE THE CONSTITUENTS WILL APPRECIATE. DO YOU HAVE TO THOW ANYBODY TO THE PEOPLE INSPITE OF THE PERSONS INABILITIES TO PERFORM OR MEET THE ASPIRATIONS OF HIS/HER CONSTITUENS? NO. IF THE COMPROMISE BEING SUGGESTED BY THE MP (RAS MUBARRAK) IS TO BE ACCEPED IT WILL MEAN THAT ANY THOM, ***barred word*** AND HARRY CAN JUST BE THWON TO THE CONSTITUENTS BY THE PARTY THAT PREVIOUSLY HELD THE SEAT BEFORE THE DEMISE. I DON'T THINK THAT WILL AUGUR WELL FOR THE BEAUTY OF DEMOCRACY. THE ONLY EXCEPTION IS WHERE THE VARIOUS POLITICAL PARTIES WEIGH THEIR STRENGTHS AND WEAKNESS AND DECIDE THAT MY CHANCES OF WINNING THE SEAT ARE SO SLIM SUCH THAT IT WILL BE SUICIDAL ESPECIALLY FOR PARTIES IN OPPOSITION TO SPEND SCARES RESOURCES CAMPAIGNING WHEN IT DOES NOT WORH IT. THIS IS THE ONLY TIME TO OPT OUT.
