Known for his candor and nerves, Member of Parliament for Assin Central, Kennedy Agyapong has once again emerged with ‘hard words’, this time, describing his party, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) as one which intellectualizes basically everything and practicalises very little.
Mr. Agyapong condemned his party members for ignoring mistakes of the past and wallowing blindly on the same paths that cost them years back.
“What we are telling the NPP is that, the English is a lot; Are we mad? Are we sick? Don’t we also have competent people to work for us? NPP we don’t learn, we don’t learn because under president Kufuor’s administration, he did marvelously well for this country, but incurred the wrath of the party people, apathy set in, they failed to vote.
The same thing is happening, I will say it because I panic when I hear some of the things and myself, I see what goes on because I am a businessman”, he said.
“It is my party but the way we want to make the money, it will affect us….NPP members, mostly, we are theorists, we are not practical, we don’t go to the ground and listen to what the ordinary people are saying”, he said on Adom TV’s ‘Badwam’Show Tuesday.
His statements came on the back of recent caution statements from the Institute of Statistical, Social and Economic Research (ISSER) on external borrowing and its impact on its revenue targets.
ISSER stated that government had borrowed about GHS50billion over the past years, including bailout loans, adding that, if the situation is not checked, it would lead to high-interest payments which would affect the fiscal space left for capital spending.
Professor Peter Quartey, the Head of Economics Division, ISSER at a press briefing in Accra on the 2019 budget, said the real Gross Domestic Product growth as at September 2018 was below target although December 2018 estimates may show a higher growth rate.
He said fiscal deficit based on both rebased and non-rebased were within target even though the revenue targets were missed.
Prof Quartey said the exchange rate depreciation for September 2018 was 7.5 per cent compared to 4.5 per cent rate of depreciation against the dollar recorded in 2017, adding that the situation had serious implication on import duties, the cost of doing business as well as the general cost of living.

An attention seeker.I believe there are elders in your party. If you have concerns why don't you go to them? Do you have to always talk rabidly on radio like that?By the way what happened to 'Who watches the Watchman" Gone up in smoke as i knew all along it would.
This EMPTY headed so called MP has something to say in every minute. Does he think that we are in JJ's dictatorship to do things "buga buga"? He simply needs to shut his LOUD mouth. He needs to go back to JSS to learn some sense.
In fact the way things are going is not good at all,the way we the youth are suffering in ghana here only god know .so please Mr government go back and check things where
ken, you are right. all Ghanaian are theorist. the sad thing is that in ghana the better you speak english, the better you are as a person. so so sad. this is the african mentality.
Hon. Ken is right. We fought tirelessly to bring the party into power but they have abounding us, knowing very well that they come back to us for another campaign. I nearly lost my life through campaign. NPP wise up, else u will never get us to do that donkey work again. 2020, u will go to the grounds with your wives and your children.
What Ken says is right.Truth sometimes is bitter but it heals.
A member of parliament who speaks like an 1diot. And they address him as honorable. Disgusting!
I was a candidate in 2012 and 2016 on the ticket of NPP. We did all this with our own resources. In opposition I held this party in my constituency together with no resources from no where. Even when you approach people to sponsor some activities for you they tell you that ooh as for Volta Region the party will not win so that would end the conversation even though in paying the filling fee they did not tell you that because the party would not win in the Volta Region you should pay less. We all pay same filling fee hmmmm. The worst of it is that almost 2 years in government some of us have no jobs. You call people who knows you and ask them of assistance and the next call they will not pick your calls again. NPP you must be careful ooo. We all played our part and if for nothing at all remember how we also help ensuring our great party stood together in opposition.
what Ken is saying is true because my own brother is in the party but he is refusing to help me.l am a first degre e holder
If you don't depend on Good and rely on politicians, my brother you will die in your sin, only God can save you.
