The former Central Regional Chairman for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Bernard Allottey Jacobs has stated that it is important for Ghanaians to respect president Nana Akufo-Addo’s national cathedral construction.
Speaking on Adom FM, Mr. Allottey Jacobs said he believes the decision of the president to build the cathedral was a promise the president made to God.
“I have been silent on this issue for too long but Iam inclined to believe the president went on a wailing war in 2012 and told God if he wins the election, he will build a cathedral for Him just like Solomon.”
According to him, it is important not for Ghanaians to criticize or be political about this issue even though the country needs to address more pressing issues than building a cathedral.
“Things about God are very sacred and must betreated as such. If we are talking too much about this, does it mean when KingSolomon was building the temple for God there was no difficulty, hardship orfamine in his kingdom?”
He however explained he will support the crusade against the building of the national cathedral if he is provided with a satisfactory answer on the economic situation of the people during the time King Solomon built a temple for God.
President Nana Akufo-Addo cut sod for the construction of the national cathedral on March 6, 2017, as part of events that marked Ghana’s 60th-anniversary celebration.
The government is to provide 14-acres of public land for the project. Although reception towards the cathedral from Ghanaians has been mixed, it has been well received by various leaders in the Christian community.

Non*ense! We need No Cathedral. Aren't there many Huge buildings already in Ghana to glorify GOD??? And who says God lives in a Cathedral or wants one?? Go to Nima, Maamobi, and other places and you'll find God happily living in small wooden built churches! It's all OK for GOD. GOD wants you to take care of his children who have nowhere to sleep, food to eat and no basic amenity to enjoy. God wants you to fix your broken roads, build hospitals, schools etc. GOD wants you to create a system where nobody is left behind. GOD will be very happy about that instead of a Cathedral.
THIS MAN SOMETIMES DO AWAY WITH POLITICS AND SPEAKS THE TRUTH. I HAVE ALWAYS SUPPORT THE BUILDING OF THE CATHEDRAL TO THE GLORY OF OUR GOD.
MR JACOBS YOU ARE THERE. GOD ALMIGHTY BLESS YOU AND GRANT YOU THE GRACE AND LONG TIME. THINGS ABOUT GOD ARE SACRED.GOD BLESS YOU MR JACOBS. LIKE JESUS CHRIST SAID, THE POOR, THE NEEDY, ORPHAN AND WIDOW WILL FOREVER BE WITH US TILL THE END OF TIME DOES NOT MEAN WE CAN'T DO THINGS THAT WILL GLORIFY GOD.NATIONAL CATHEDRAL FOR NATIONS TO COME AND WORSHIP GOD ALMIGHTY
Sir I salute you. God bless you
