Former President Jerry John Rawlings says the need for community vigilantism is “an absolute necessity” and “an absolute must”.
To him, vigilantes protecting the environment, for instance, can help prevent random and persistent dumping of refuse on the streets.
Mr Rawlings said the vigilantes will, therefore, complement the efforts of security agencies.
He recommended that even before lawbreakers are handed to state security agencies, they have be “disciplined”. He, however, stressed that nobody supports thugs who parade as vigilantes like it is happening in the political circles.
The former president was speaking at the Annual Thanksgiving Service of Zoomlion and the JOSPONG Group of Companies.
More to come. . .

RAWLINGS HAS A SHORT MEMORY TO THE HIGHEST ORDER.WHAT DID HE DO ABOUT THE FILTH WHEN HE CAME TO POWER OR WAS ON THE THROWN? WHEN HE CAME TO MURDER THE OFFICERS AND GENTLEMEN,GHANA WAS NOT AS FILTHY AS OF TODAY. IF HAD DONE A BIT TO CLEAN OUR CITIES THE TREAD MIGHT HAVE CARRIED ON BUT FOR TWENTY YEARS HE ONLY CARED ABOUT WEALTH USING HIS WIFE TO STEALLL OUR STATE RESOURCES. THE DAY OF RECKONING IS FAST APPROACHING.ONLY TIME WILL TELL.
If that is the case then political vigilantism is also spot on. Becuz whether community or politics they are all for the good of the people.
