The Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration Minister Shirley Ayorkor Botchway has insisted that no payment has been made for a Chancery and place of residence for Ghana’s Ambassador to Norway.
Answering a question on the issue at President Akufo-Addo's end-of-year encounter with the media, Madam Botchway said the minority is just trying to deceive Ghanaians because the processes needed to be taken before approval of money for the purchase of the Chancery have not yet been done; as a result the allegation is neither here nor there.
"I will like to assure that we have not spent any money...it is not the responsibility of the ministry of foreign affairs to disburse money, it is the ministry of finance...we are nowhere near where we will advise the ministry of finance to disburse funds...so we have not done anything yet," she indicated.
Earlier this week, Madam Shirley Ayorkor Botchwey had a heated exchange with the Member of Parliament for North Tongu, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa within the corridors of Parliament on Monday, 17 December 2018 over the price of the building.
The Minority alleged that the government had inflated the cost ($12 million) of the six-bedroom property which has already been purchased.
“As we have pointed out…the seller of the property has an agreement which have tended in evidence before and Ghana made some demands on the seller and the seller proceeded to carry out those demands and contractors are on site,” Ablakwa indicated.

.....Are you deliberately jumping the steps? How can any supposed works on the building have anything to do with Ghana when NO ONE has come forward with proof that a sale agreement exist. The Minister says no contract has been signed. No money has been money. Those who are alleging should bring the proof of sale contract! At the very least.....
so madam minister, whose money is being used to renovate the place according to the specification mentioned in the contract document? Look we are not ***barred word***, if you claim no money has been paid then its obvious the owner of the property is renovating the place to suit the requirement stated in the contract document with his money. this means the contract is binding.. so Madam minister, how much are you purchasing the apartment, tell us and stop this cock and bull stories
