The Member of Parliament for Tamale Central Constituency, Inusah Fuseini has criticized President Akufo-Addo and his government over unfulfilled campaign promises he made to Ghanaians ahead of the 2016 general elections.
His comments come in the wake of recent polls conducted by the Political Science Department of the University of Ghana which pointed out that, should elections be held today President Nana Akufo Addo would poll 49.3% as against 33.3 percent for former President John Mahama of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
Speaking on Pan African Television’s Good Morning Africa, hosted by Kwame Owusu Danso, the Tamale Central legislator indicated that, it is significant for Ghanaians to note that president Akufo-Addo who won the 2016 general elections by 53% votes failed to hit the 50% mark in the recent polls.
He opined that never in Ghana’s history has the voting population lost confidence in the incumbent government barely two years after elections.
According to the former Minister of Lands and Natural Resources, the government is plagued with nepotism as well as unbridled and unparalleled corruption.
“Clearly if they intend to fight corruption, they will have a mile full to deal with even with their own people”, Hon. Fuseini added.
He postulated that the National Democratic Congress will resolve to consider the recent polls by the Political Science Department of the University of Ghana; adding that such polls are meant to guide political parties to make amends and prepare themselves adequately for elections.
