Former President John Dramani Mahama’s subtle call for recognition of the efforts made by successive governments in the resolution of the Dagbon chieftaincy dispute, has been given a befitting response by the Information Minister, Hon. Kojo Oppong Nkrumah.
According to the Information Minister, successive governments will surely be given their due for their role in bringing about peace in Dagbon and the installation of a new Ya Naa, Abubakari Mahama ll, as the overload of the Dagbon traditional area.
Former President John Dramani Mahama, last week, expressed his excitement over the peace that has finally been restored at Dagbon following the people’s acceptance of the new Ya-Naa, Abukari Mahama II.
"I am so happy for this day, and we should be eternally grateful to Allah that Dagbon has finally seen peace."
“After many years of hard work, negotiations, long meetings, disagreements, traditional considerations and agreements, we celebrate the efforts of successive governments for this day,” he posted on Facebook.
But in what can best pass for a direct reply to Ex-president Mahama's post on social media, the Information Minister, Hon Oppong-Nkrumah, speaking in an interview on Okay FM’s Ade Akye Abia Morning show, said as efforts of successive governments are being celebrated in the resolution of Dagbon Chieftaincy dispute, the same act should be accorded successive statesmen who worked hard and fought in attaining independence for Ghana.
“We shall surely celebrate successive government's efforts in the resolution of the Dagbon chieftaincy dispute and that is why we invited all of them except former President Kuffour who was not feeling well....and I will add that the same recognition we are giving to them should be accepted during the founder’s day discussion in Parliament about those who fought for Ghana’s independence”, he stated.
“...when it gets to that discussion in Parliament, they should not say that we should exclude everybody else except one person. I'ld rather they say that successive statesmen who worked and fought hard to help the country attain independence should be included; just as we did for him [Mahama] at Dagbon, when we discuss the founders day in Parliament, i hope there is consensus that due recognition is accorded all these statesmen," he stressed.

The white man is sponsoring kidnapperss in the Western region because they want to organize a boko type of organization to destabilize the Western region so it would be easier to steeell as much oil as possible and you here thinking about holidays. Where are the wise men?
I agree the reasoning of the information minister. Credit must be given to all who makes things happen like Independence and Peace at Dagbon
Am sorry some of the readers read the most important issues with emotions,by so doing missed out the importance of contribution to the issue, you may disagree or agree without insult or personal attacks, as a people as nation agreeing to one thing is never possible it doesn't mean that is not possible, at least majority or minority will agree therefore, the mear fact you either believe or not automatically qualifies into aforementioned group but not group of insult, where is our values, conscience, shall we heep insult on our brothers when ever we don't agree with them?
Ndc, Your bitterness and evil is what will eventually consume you. Most of you guys are frustrated because most of you did not get a good education. This Oppong Nkrumah is an excellent info minster. You will insult him as much as you like and that is about all you can do .Hide behind the anonymity of social media and spew your hatred and poison. I advise that you take time off to get properly educated then you can come back and contribute meaningfully to national discussions .Right now you are totally irrelevant

I am waiting for former Prez. Mahama to come out and say he would review the enskinment of the new Yaa-Naa when he is elected president and also the NDC members in Parliament to hold a press conference to criticize the road map to peace in Dagbon and call for a probe into the process.
