Peacefmonline.com can confirm that the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) has pulled out of the ongoing bye-election at Ayawaso West Wuogon constituency.
National Chairman of the NDC, Samuel Ofosu Ampofo, confirmed the news in an interview with Kwami Sefa Kayi on Peace FM's "Kokrokoo" a few minutes ago.
An emotionally-charged Ofosu Ampofo stressed that the "NDC cannot sit on the fence and watch its members to lose their lives" because of an election.
He claims there are "several blood stains" at the polling center near the NDC's candidate residence.
Though he stopped short of identifying members of the NDC who have been shot at, Hon Ofosu Ampofo pointed out that the victims were at their candidate’s residence to assist the party’s activities for the day.
"...we can no longer guarantee the security of our people and our polling agents...We have conferred with our candidate who is also so traumatized that he cannot even come out of his house....We also do not believe a single life should be lost in this by-election so we have withdrawn from the process," he stated.
NDC Will Accept The Results If,
In a related development, the opposition party says should their candidate be declared winner of the bye-elections, they will accept the results.
A leading member of the NDC, the Eastern Regional Secretary, Mark Kevor-Oliver told Kwami Sefa Kayi, whiles contributing to a panel discussion on Kokrokoo Thursday that, "eventhough their National Chairman has called for a boycott of the polls, a decision all members of the party subscribe to, in the event that Delali K. Brempong comes out on top in the bye-election at the end of the day, the NDC will accept the results."
Shots Fired
Meanwhile, 7 people suffered gun-shot wounds at the Bawaleshie Presbyterian school where voting was underway following an impasse over the polls earlier in the day.
Close to 90,000 voters are expected to cast their ballot in the by-election at the Ayawaso West Wuogon Constituency.
The Ayawaso West Wuogon seat became vacant following the death of the Member of Parliament for that constituency, Kyeremanteng Agyarko on November 21, 2018.

Ofosu Ampofo is the most disgraceful Chairman of the Opposition NDC. When worse things happened at Akwatia, Atiwa and BimBila NPP stood firm and contested. You knew very well that you were going to loose. This is just a cover up. Bye bye
An average NPP Candidate lacks common sense. Thank you.
NDC is becoming irrelevant very very fast and if they don't change their platform to one where ideas and the power of the brain drives our politics and the discourse, after 2020, its over for the NDC party. And this goes to the recommendations their own Akwasi Botchwey enumerated about, crowding in intelligence, which doesn't exist in their party. It is not looking good for NDC and their buga buga childish pranks doesn't win elections in the 21st century. Indeed, the unattractiveness of the NDC as a political party is at its worst, the absolute worst and not good for multiparty democracy. NDC is in dangerous territory and must be concerned as to why it is in such a mess.
Will Sam George be hauled before the Privileges Committee for causing such a confusion?
WE DON'T CARE ABOUT YOUR PULL OUT. WE WILL BE GLAD IF YOU PULL OUT OF 2020 ELECTIONS
Will the party NDC pull out from 2020 elections if this satanic party npp repeate the same in thing 2020
111D10TT OF A CHAIRMAN, OFOSU YOU ARE A DISGRACE TO DEMOCRACY IN AFRICA AND THE WORLD. K.W.A.S.I.A
NDC snatching ballot boxes in a by-election they have lost already to further buttress the lack of any message for they have for the development of Ghana again? Why is that not surprising??? When Ghana has progressed so much, they are still stuck in 1992 type of electioneering conduct, sad.
Planned to cause confusion just to win people's sympathy?. No, NDC come again. Ghana is now beyond your propaganda!
Next joke 😂😂😂
