Sammy Awuku, National Organizer of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), has admonished the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) not to 'cowardly' pull out of the ongoing bye-election at the Ayawaso West Wuogon constituency.
National Chairman of the NDC, Samuel Ofosu Ampofo, confirmed the news in an interview with Kwami Sefa Kayi on Peace FM's 'Kokrokoo' programme saying the "NDC cannot sit on the fence and watch its members to lose their lives" because of an election.
" ... We can no longer guarantee the security of our people and our polling agents . . . We have conferred with our candidate . . . We also do not believe a single life should be lost in this by-election so we have withdrawn from the process," he added.
But the NPP National Organizer, in an interview with host Kwami Sefa Kayi on 'Kokrokoo' on Peace FM, wondered why the NDC would decide to boycott the election due to an incident at one polling station within the constituency.
According to him, there are 137 polling stations at Ayawaso West Wuogon and so an incident at a single electoral area shouldn't be the basis for the NDC's sudden decision to pull out of the bye-election.
He alluded to some chaotic incidents that occurred in previous elections which the NPP should have equally boycotted but resisted themselves.
Though he condemned the violent attacks on some electorates at Bawleshie Presby electoral area, Sammy Awuku believed the NDC is only acting cowardly and refusing to participate in the elections because they had already made a decision to boycott the election.
The NDC candidate, he opined, won't win the election and so the opposition party is finding [-pre-emptive measures to avoid defeat.

THE DAYS WHEN NDC USED VIOLENCE AND STEALING TO WIN POLITICAL POWER ARE OVER.
Bravery is when they also put the law into their pocket and attack back. Then voting continues.
How can you talk like that when you know the truth. Politics. God save our dear nation and make it better again.
Please this is Ghana and it is Ghanaians that are hurt here. Rise beyond politics you know what you are saying is a lie. Go bring the people to face the law, then we will know you are for peace and has the interest of our nation at heart.
A big shame for our dear nation today.
So it is no longer democracy eh. It is gun'ocracy. Is democracy still the alternative to war?
Is this the bravery of NPP? You are a public figure and should watch how you speak. Yesterday, you spoke on TV and said even when the NDC was in opposition they could not match you. I thought somebody would caution you but look at what you are saying again. The international community is watching
