President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has apologised to persons with disability after making comments they describe as negative.
The President while addressing party supporters at the Ayawaso West Wuogon constituency prior to its by-election said: “we came to fix Ghana, and in these two years, it is only those who are blind or deaf who are not aware that indeed we have done something.”
This comment did not go down well with the Federation of Disability Organisations and demanded an apology from the President.
In a facebook post the President wrote: “Vis-à-vis the comments I made at the final rally prior to the holding of the by-election at Ayawaso West Wuogon, which was won by the NPP candidate so emphatically, I am glad the Ghana Federation of Disability Organisations recognizes it was a “political metaphor”. I did not intend any slight on Persons with Disabilities, nor would I ever, and I hope they know that.
“If there has been any Government that has been on the side of Persons with Disabilities, it is my Government. We have increased the share of the District Assemblies Common Fund to Persons with Disabilities from 2% to 3%, and we have also ensured the implementation of our pledge of employing 50% of the persons who manage the country’s toll booths from amongst Persons with Disabilities. I apologise for any unintended slight from the ‘political metaphor’”.

The mistake of a president. He is a wasted sperm and very clueless.
Good one a mark of a stateman
Deceptive and unprincipled people always behave this way. He meant every word he said, he is only apologizing because of political backlash. If a 75 year man didn't know that such comments are in bad taste and will stupidlyy say it and come and apologize then it's a mistake he is a president.
Yes, Mr Prezi, well done for apologizing asap. I do not know why Politicians, even very sensible and deep ones like NAADA, get intoxicated by political provocation to speak on the wrong side of the mouth! You are doing a good work for Ghana so do not let provocations irk you and take the attention. Next time, weigh your words before you utter them because political "metaphors" built on 'disabilities' are now denigrating in this era of political correctness.
Well spoken Mr. President
The most important thing is that he has apologized even though his intention was not dispise persons with disability. That is a mark of a good leader. A little bit of respect for our leaders is good.
HAHA, THIS MAN IS ALWAYS FUNNY.REMEMBER YOU ARE A PRESIDENT AND NOT A SERIAL CALLER YOO.
