It seems directives from the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), David Asante Apeatu to political parties to denounce vigilante groups will not materialize.
According to the IGP, it is against the country’s laws for political parties to have such groups that have recently been disturbing the peace of the country.
But his caution has triggered the opposition National Democratic Congress [NDC] to rather form new groups that will be used by the party ahead of election 2020.
The party’s Deputy General Secretary, Peter Boamah Otokunor told NEAT FM’s evening political show ‘Torchlight’ in an interview that preparations are underway for more vigilante groups to be birthed in the NDC.
According to him, they don’t trust the police for their safety.
“We [NDC] have it in mind to form vigilante groups ahead of 2020. We can’t rely on the police for our safety,” he told host Mac Jerry Osei Agyeman on Thursday.

Mahama said NDC was born out of violence. Boot for boot he said, that means non of you is ready peace. The police are waiting for you ***barred word***.
yooo go and form your so called vigilante group to come and face Ghana Army and Ghana police and we shall see who is who. you will leave your family members at home and bring other peoples children to come and fight a desperate, corrupt and incompetent man.
You are only interested in pitching innocent people (youth in particular) against the Police and the Security forces. Take a tough stand against the Police and be ready to bear the consequence that comes with it. In one breath you people say the NDC has no vigilante group and in another breath you say you will form more vigilante groups. CONFUSED LEADERS! This is what happen when any group elect grossly incompetent leaders with no innovation. All they know is violence and bullying their way through so is their fear of failure has gone up with the announcement that all vigilante groups must be disbanded.
make sure you have your children, wife, and family at the battlefront first before we join you.... lazy man
Newmont has intensified the steeeling of gold in Ghana. Let find all means necessary to sack them from our rich gold concessions. How much royalties is newmont paying for all the billions of dollars worth of gold they've been taken from our land. How many ultra modern hospitals have they built for the poor people who have been farming there all their lives? We can't rely on compromised leaders
So NDC has their own laws that is above the laws in Ghana?. They have every right to chose to obey or disobey the laws of the land?. These guys are really enjoying freedom of rights that will make an American or Canadian jealous. Because not even a minister dare challenge a policeman in Canada or America if he/she breaks any laws of those countries. In America, policeman or woman will s-h-0-0t you if he or she feels his life is threatened before you even say Jack.
