The ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) says the victory of former President John Mahama gives them the assurance that they will retain power come 2020.
The opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) gave the former President a massive endorsement after winning the primaries by 95.24%.
Mahama garnered an overwhelming 213,487 votes representing 95.24 percent of the total votes to conquer six other aspirants.
Reacting to this in an interview on Citi FM, Vice Chairman of the NPP, Michael Omari Wadie said: “we are not worried. We are only excited because they choose him and it will make our work easier, and that will also give us the power for a little longer . . . we want to remain in power a little longer and as long as it is Mahama, it gives us the confidence that we are winning the next elections.”

We have heard this over and over from party folks. Why worry wait for the day.
The government should start exposing the rot that this guy left they let Ghanaians know that John Mahama is bad news for Ghana, they should work hard at solving most of the problems of this country and I can assure them the election is a done deal. luuuting ndc had 8 years and you want a hard working government to go for one term, you lie bad with free SHS and ROPAL mahama should start writing another book
IF MAHAMA WILL MAKE YOUR WORK EASIER THEN STOP TALKING ABOUT HIM AND BE POPPING CHAMPAGNE AND FORGET ABOUT CAMPAIGNING AND LETS SEE WHAT HAPPENS ON THE 7TH JANUARY 2021
There's a story on Ghanaweb under the heading; Things are hard under Akufo-Addo; Mahama may win 2020 poll - Irbard Ibrahim. When we wanted to comment they blocked the comment. We will still comment at all cost. Nothing will stop us from commenting. We are saying just one issue of Mahama's corruption and it will sink him in 2020. During the course of his administration, his brother was importing stuff into the country and clearing it without paying taxes, selling it and ripping the State off. The chap was issuing dud cheques and when the Customs and Excise as well as GRA people tried to get to the bottom of it, they were either fired or transferred. It took a change of gov't for Ibrahim Mahama to honor his obligations to the State. Ghana was not hard under Mahama then? I remember what Charles Owusu said, and I quote; "if you want to know if change has come ask Ibrahim Mahama", end of quote. Mahama is not winning any 2020 poll. Indeed, the 2020 poll is the only poll in this country, which will be won by an incumbent President with his margin of victory, being an improvement of his prior results. It won't even be close.
Chairman Wadie: Here´s my advice. Do not be complacent. The NDC said the same things when Nana won the Primaries. When we put all indicators and narratives together, Nana´s government has performed far better than Mahama´s. HOWEVER, some folks' expectations have not been met. Some of the nearly one million who did not vote for Mahama in 2016 will vote for him in 2020. Also, some who voted for him will vote for Nana in the next elections. These pluses and minuses, notwithstanding, you and the NPP havea A LOT of work to do. Sell your achiemvements and message of hope to the masses, espcially those in villages and remote corners of the country. Be honest. Do not exibit pride. Tell the people that they gave you a mandate and you have performed creditably, even though some things have not worked as planned. Let them know what you are doing about those and given them hope of things yet to come, and beg them again to renew the mandate. Then and only then will you have victory in 2020.
We wait to see.
A ***barred word*** talk of the year 2019 so far. No effort to solve problems for the suffering masses bcos it is a walk over and will be easy. We are watching
