A high powered government delegation have arrived in the Northern Region to inspect the ongoing '1 village 1 dam' project.
Speaking on Okay FM’s 'Ade Akye Abia' programme, Minister for Information and Member of Parliament for Ofoase Ayerebi, Hon. Kojo Oppong Nkrumah explained that they are in the region to receive first hand information about the ongoing project.
He added that the '1 village 1 dam' project is a government policy project that the government is committed to honouring but we will want to let the general public know that the project is dear to the government's heart.
Government will not allow the opposition NDC to misinform Ghanaians about the project that is why this delegation have arrived in the region to inspect the projects and advise government and the President accordingly.
The opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) has said the government’s '1 Village 1 Dam' promise is deceptive and was only intended for electoral gain and not really meant to be fulfilled.
The criticism comes after some residents of the Upper East region, where construction of some of the dams are underway, questioned the project.
Although the projects are at various stages of completion, these residents say work done so far is sloppy.
