The Member of Parliament for Builsa North Constituency in the Upper East Region, James Agalga has asked President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to apologize for 'misleading' Ghanaians.
He does not understand why the ruling administration claim to be 'better management of the economy yet fuel prices, electricity tariffs and others keep going up'.
The Public Utilities Regulatory Commission (PURC) has announced an 11.7 percent upward electricity tariff adjustment.
According to the Commission, “the key objective of the tariff review was to sustain the financial viability of utility service providers as well as ensuring the delivery of quality service to consumers.”
But speaking on Joy Newsfile programme Saturday, James Agalga said the way the NPP played politics with tariff increment before they came into office, he wasn't expecting an increment in their tenure.
"Our economy is still having challenges, prices are soaring, and yet wages have remained stagnant…under his watch we were expecting that there wouldn’t be an increase in electricity tariff. Ghanaians are suffering; let president Akufo-dado be reminded that Ghanaians are suffering…this government; the President has benefitted with the politics of tariffs; today the reality has dawned on him; let him apologize to the good people of this country that he misled us…the people of this country are demanding an apology. They told us they could manage the energy sector better" he intimated.

It was reduced by 30% or more and it has been increased to 11%. No big deal. Why worry NDC Folks. You had the opportunity but you didn't do it.

I am very sure you were one of those who received daily bread from the the korrupt Mahama. Tell me one single facet of national life which was better than now. Electricity was not available yet it was sold at a very expensive rate. Now electricity is available and the rate was reduced to 17% since 2017. I remember your NDC and its minority in parliament opposed it. Now that is going up by 11% you guys are still opposing it. Who and what are you guys? Kosi a enkosi, koda a enkoda. You want both sides of the coin at the same time.
Ghana was far better under MAHAMA. NPP came with their gargantuan promises and see what is happening today. Life is getting hard each day. election 2020, we can't wait. Come back to me, Mahama.
Tsiooo. Efo MAHAMA, tell this super-incom-petent NPP govt the truth la. They don't know anything. So so figures they spit out all year. GDP this, Macro that.... Nation wreckers.
The kitchen is getting warmer and warmer. NPP cannot stand it anymore. More hardship coming. Hehehe. Better managers of Ghana indeed.
The NDC opposed the 17% reduction in petroleum tariffs. They are now opposing an 11% increase in petroleum tariffs. They're as confused as their flag bearer. By the way, did this d0nkey Agalga apologize to Ghanaians when he signed for the importation of those arms and then turned around with his confused party to accuse the NPP of sanctioning the imports?
