The Minority Leader in Parliament, Mr Haruna Iddrisu has passed a vote of no confidence in the Akufo-Addo government, suggesting that what he considers as an unimpressive 2020 budget is enough basis for the New Patriotic Party to be kicked out of office.
In reaction to the 2020 budget and economic policy statement presented to Parliament on Wednesday, 13 November 2019 by Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta, the Tamale South legislator said: “One uninspiring budget deserves an exit”.
According to his assessment, the government has done a poor job at alleviating the plight of Ghanaians, insisting: “Ghanaians are worse off under the Akufo-Addo government than the erstwhile Mahama administration”.
Mr Ofori-Atta had stated during his presentation that the NPP has restored the ill economy it inherited back to health, noting: “One good term deserves another”.
Mr Ofori-Atta accused the previous Mahama-led administration of wantonly issuing contracts without any plans to pay for them.
According to him, this has contributed to huge legacy debts which government had to settle after taking office in January 2017.
According to Mr Ofori-Atta, the Mahama government “awarded billions of cedis worth of contracts without knowing about how to pay for them. It was a case of living for today and leaving tomorrow to take care of itself”. He also accused the previous government of taking unwise economic decisions and imposition of taxes on basic goods and services which overburdened citizens.
“The previous government resorted to some draconian fiscal measures, notably the increase in the tax burden of many activities including taxes on condoms, cutlasses as well as Kayayei,” he explained.

@Yaw.....why sadly? Rather thankfully, he has only one thumb for only one vote so as you said he cannot decide for Ghanaians. We would do that ourselves. But, please o, are NDC sympathizers living in this country with some of us at all? It's surprising the kind of criticisms they put out. I think they'll be better off keeping quiet.
He speaks like the NDC never governed before. All we know about NDC govts is borrow, tax, and spend. No novel ideas. NDC never again.
this guy is a ***barred word***
What else? If it is NPP it's rubbisshhh. If it is NDC the best. If it is NDC rubbisshh. If it is NPP the best. What country is this? Can't you politicians grow a bit in this country? How and what did we feel and saw during your time. Give us a brake please for Christ sake. Haruna give us peace.Ghanaians are getting irritated each passing day from all opposition parties. Aden Aden Aden Koraa?
AFTER MORTGAGING GHANAIANS (CURRENT AND YET UNBORN) TO A 173.33 PER CENT INCREASE IN LOANS (FROM 120 BILLION TO 208 BILLION WITHIN JUST THREE YEARS TO OTHER NATIONS LIKE CHINA THIS IS THE KIND OF BUDGET THEY (NPP) CAN BEST OFFER GHANAIANS. THIS IS A BIG SHAME TO SAY THE LEAST.
......for who to take charge??? NDC??? JOKE of the day.
Hurana himself is criminal and took double salary and talk about bye, bye. NDC thinks some are ***barred word*** and that they cannot read between lines.Ghana is better than before so Huranna and NDC should revise their NOTEs. Iff NPP is not good now then NDC cannot be an alternative at all
Sadly you have only one finger to vote and so you cannot decide the destiny of Ghanaians. Ghanaians will speak for themselves in 2020.
