One of the questions the National Democratic Congress (NDC) asked the Electoral Commission during a recently held Inter-Party Advisory Committee (IPAC) meeting was whether the current voters’ register is credible.
However, Central Regional Minister, Kwamena Duncan has described the question as ‘useless’.
A couple of weeks ago, the EC, together with the Advisory Committee of Eminent Persons and the Inter-Party Advisory Committee (IPAC), held a meeting to find common grounds on the need to compile a new voters register.
The meeting, however, ended in a stalemate.
The NDC and other political parties were, are still fiercely opposed to the decision by the election management body - (EC), to conduct this year's election with a new voters register.
Present at the meeting were the Chairperson of the EC, Mrs Jean Mensah; representatives of some political parties including the ruling New Patriotic Party, Convention People's Party (CPP), People's National Convention (PNC), Ghana Freedom Party (GFP), aLL pEOPLE'S cONGRESS (APC), Democratic People's Party (DPP), the Liberal Party of Ghana (LPG) and some Civil Society Organisations (CSOs).
It was at that meeting that the biggest opposition party sought to find out whether the current register is credible.
"They shouldn’t have asked that question; it’s a very useless question," Kwamena Duncan said while speaking to the controversies surrounding the compilation of a new voters' register.
He believed the question was malice-induced; "it was just a trap for the EC; useless question. All registers are credible and they produce credible results and so they shouldn’t waste our time".

NO WONDER GHANA IS STAGNANT THIS GUY ALSO CALLED HIMSELF A MINISTER. I HAVE FOLLOWED HIM FOR YEARS AND ALL HIS CONTRIBUTION ON NATIONAL ISSUES ARE SENSE-LESS.
So you just want to replace the register whether credible or not credible to create room for something else, eh?
Akufo-Addo must ensure that many activities are held in order to commemorate the 60th Anniversary of our Republican Status. It will be sad, if this 1st July isn't a public holiday. The law must be amended as required. Also, this independence day, Independence Square need not be empty, because the parade for the Greater Accra Region which is to be chaired by the regional minister, can be held there. Only school children must participate so that it won't overshadow the national one which will be held in Kumasi.
This cripple teacher can talk sh*t paa. Politics really brings out the ***barred word****ty in people. Square pegs in round holes. No wonder we are where we are
