The General Secretary of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), John Boadu, has reacted to a leaked video on galamsey circulating on social media.
In the video, Horace Ekow Ewusi, the NPP former Vice Chairman of the Agona West Constituency, is heard discussing with Prof Kwabena Frimpong-Boateng, the Minister for Environment, Science and Technology, how they can engage with some party folks on some mining concessions in order to raise money from the activity to support the party.
Ekow Ewusi, allegedly said he went to the Minister’s office with John Boadu with a request to mining so that the proceeds would be used to support the NPP.
Speaking in an interview on Neat FM's 'Me Man Nti' programme, John Boadu confirmed the meeting but denied receiving any money or engaging in galamsey.
" . . So I went to Frimpong-Boateng and Ekow Ewusi that day was around so we discussed in the open about what we can do, and Ekow was suggesting that Wontumi (Ashanti Regional Chairman of NPP) has a large scale concession that we can send some of our boys there to work, that was the end of the discussion . . . as to whether they went to do it or not we've never concluded on that discussion we started," he explained.
He continued that no one brought any money to him that it was the share of the discussions held.
"Not One Cedi," he added.
According to him, the discussion centered on community mining.
But he confirmed that most of his party constituency executives; from Amenfi, Tarkwa, Prestea, Akwatia and other mining areas all survive on small scale mining which is legal.

This is the saddest moment in our time and it pains me so much to witness these strange times. Ghana is a very small country with very little economic output. I had the opportunity to travel around a bit and the current conversation now is environmental conservation and protection. That unless we reverse the destructive practices over the years which have seen planet Earth on the brink, mankind as we know it today will be totally annihilated sooner or later. We have already seen some of the effects where 3ominutes of rain results in floods which carry people away with alarming regularity! That a few individuals for their selfish and party interests will destroy the livelihoods of all of us is just unthinkable. But that is not the saddest part. The saddest part is that those who have no way of benefitting directly from the activities of these miscreants and whose lives will be worst off as a result of these activities jump up in defense in the name of party support and affiliation! How do you even defend this! I now understand why it was so easy for a few Europeans to come and enslave and colonize the whole of Africa! We do not even recognize what is bad and destructive to us! How can anyone defend galamsey along party lines? Is it only NDC or NPP supporters who will starve when our arable land is destroyed and we can no longer farm or get clean water? It is all of us! So it is really pathetic to see some people defending this illegal practice just because it is their party members who are engaged in it. Which one is better: someone who teaches you how to fish so you can fish or someone who gives you fish bones after he/she has enjoyed the fleshy part of the fish? I think if we can answer this question honestly we will not allow politicians to use us the way they do. We will stand up and hold them accountable to implement policies that work for all of us and not just a few!
The moment i saw the video, I knew it was all complete no$ense and complete bull$hit. This was normal talk and we already know that a lot of the politicians (not only NPP and NDC) are into galamsey and small scale mining. I am not interested in whether they are mining or not. However I very interested in our water bodies getting clean. This government has made the boldest attempt to get rid of the rot. We should support them. I believe Kwabena Frimpong will do the job if he is well supported but the people of Ghana are soo $tupid and fooli$h that because of politics they will want to run him down.
Just because his name was mentioned does not mean he is guilty. It's sad the people can't even learn the truth from lies. He has explained his involvement.listen to thus nad see if the explanation makes logcal sense. you can know lies from truth when you hear accused people speaking about issues.
Just handover the investigator the missing caterpillars just as you have done the airbus. Ghanains are watching as the waters get milkier and murkier.
John Boadu so you think you can hoodwink everybody heh. You have been caught pants down. Save us the lies.
Is this my my NPP? This is unbelievable! Nana addo paaaaa as president these things are happening under you and you are doing nothing under it! I now understand why the NDC is far better than us, because these never happened under NDC. Things happened under NDC but the extent at which within three years these stealllings are going on means if nana addo gets 8years Ghana would be sold.
Another Picadilly ROBBER!!
