Managing Editor of the Insight newspaper, Kwesi Pratt Jnr thinks it is a wrong decision to deboardinise the Ejisuman Senior High School girls following the viral video.
The girls who are all final year students of the school, used a mobile phone – which is prohibited in basic and senior high schools – to “intentionally upload a video on social media where unprintable words that border on sex were spewed out.”
A letter to the Ashanti Regional Director of Education said the girls have been sacked from the boarding house effective February 6, 2020, pending a final determination of their fate by the school’s Board.
Reacting to this on Peace FM's morning show 'Kokrokoo', Kwesi Pratt said the girls should have been disciplined in the school and taken through counselling instead of deboardinisation.
According to him, it is possible that some of the family settings from where these young girls hail, might not be conducive enough to bring the much-needed transformation in their lives; hence they should have been kept in the school.

If I were Pratt, I will study psychology. This has been my third time to see some flaws from Pratt. In issues where you do not have authority, don't talk about it at all. Does he know the psychological implications of what he is calling for
RAS thank you. Ghanaians behave differently of late and know human rights than any other country in this universe. I was writing GCE O-Level 1n 1985 and all boarding students were told to leave though the fault came from other students who have finished their exams. Should I go back and sue the school? We're making it hard for some of us to return home with our kids. Come to US high school students are fired from school. What these kids have done it is only Ghana that will removed them from boarding house. They will be dismissed totally. Just smoke cigarette on school grounds will see the consequence.
Since they are in their final year, they should be disciplined with a strong warning considering the far places they are coming from. Even some of their families do not have money to catering for them. So they should recall back to the boarding house, please
these girls could encourage other girls to get involve in their immoral behavior. the school is importantly to improve the quality of the individual life in future and nothing else. they should have been dismiss to serve as a deterrent to other girls. students are supposed to concentrate on their various subjects withing the limitation of the available time to do well. the punishment is ok
I agree with Kwesi, I was debating with someone on this and my stand was that this are minors and that they need counselling because sacking them from boarding house means they should go and continue with their character and the implications of their action would affect everyone because if they give birth to street children and they become nuisance to society it would affect all of us.
Please, the girls are bad let us accept the fact. There are laid down regulations in every school and I think the girls knows that. How do you want them to be punish in school?, Fetching water, weeding, cleaning or what? mind you, the above punishment will also lead to chill abuse which could bring another dimension into the case. So since you want to address the issue, please tell us the type of punishment you think the girls should receive?
