The Second Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Mr Alban Sumana Bagbin is advocating for the public display of covid-19 corpses in Ghana to help enforce the message that the disease is real.
To him, many people were still living their lives as if everything was still normal and were flouting the covid-19 protocols.
Speaking on the floor of Parliament on Tuesday, May 19, 2020, Mr Bagbin said his call was based on feedback he has received from the public.
He argued that will help wake people from their slumber and make them think that covid-19 is real.
His contribution followed an update by the Minister of Health, Mr Kwaku Agyeman Manu in Parliament on Tuesday.
To the Nadowli/Kaleo Member of Parliament, what he prescribes as "shock therapy" was the sure way to help make people change from how they are responding to the threats posed by the disease.
"Awareness creation, education, when a leader, you must know the people you are leading well."
"In Ghana, my dear Minister for Communication was saying that eventhough we don't see God, we believe that God exists."
"You cannot see God because God is spirit, it is not the same for this disease, they are not spirits. But the important this is that the people we are leading, they want to see.
"In fact, I want to see on Television some evidence of death because when you state that this number of people are dead but they are not seeing anything like that [it will not give them the shock of their life].
I believe in shock therapy. We need shock therapy to wake them up from slumber and make them know COVID-19 is real,” Mr Bagbin said.

What about malaria deaths? What about meningitis deaths? What about accident deaths? What about diabetes deaths? What about cervical cancer deaths? What about kidney failures deaths? Etc Democracy has actually failed to produce intelligent politicians. What else can we try?
HON. BAGBIN COULD YOU TELL US HOW OUR LATE PREZ. DIED?
What on earth is wrong with the NDC? Is Gbagbin's request conventional with the global treatment of Covid19 corpses? Does the request conform with common reasoning? You guys must know that the nation will probe your Covid19 team in due course to ascertain the contributions they have made, vis a vis the damage caused by your counter-information and misinformation so far. You nation-wreckers must be brought to book! Those who do not know what the NDC is made of were touting that Gbagbin is better than who? They are all the same!
Can you simply look at a corpse and determine the cause of death?
very smart work there hon. this NPP people can tll lies too much. they are just cooking up the figures to be able to steal money (IMF LOAN) from the system. God will punish all NPP people who are making innocent people to suffer.
THIS IS ALIEN TO TO GHANA. BESIDES, THE ACTION WOULD NOT BE PLAUSIBLE TO SUPPORT ANY SOUND ARGUMENT. GHANA HAS LOST 31 PERSONS SINCE COVID-19 CASE WAS REPORTED IN MARCH. THERE ARE SOME OTHER SICKNESSES WHICH HAVE KILLED MORE PERSONS THAN THAT NUMBER WITHIN THE SAME PERIOD. YOU MIGHT BECOME A POSSIBLE ALTERNATIVE TO MAHAMA SHOULD IN CASE THE CORRUPTION AGAINST HIM GATHERS MOMENTUM BEFORE 2020 ELECTIONS. IT IS GOOD TO BE SILENT THAN TO EXHIBIT WRONG JUDGEMENT. SILENCE IS CONSIDERED WISDOM.
