Influential cousin of President Akufo-Addo, Gabby Asare Otchere-Darko has incurred the wrath of opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) parliamentary candidate for Abura-Asebu-Kwamankese, Felix Ofosu Kwakye for questioning the basis for which Ketu South Constituency in the Volta Region is the most populous constituency in the country in terms of names on the current voter roll.
Gabby, a very vocal member of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), in two separate tweets on his social media account has sought to cause a discussion on how the NDC stronghold holds the number one position of the most populous constituency in the current voter roll based on socio-economic factors.
“Out of Ghana’s 275 constituencies, Ketu South is the most populous constituency in Ghana in terms of the number of names on the electoral role. Why and How? Discuss...... Ketu South constituency has 149, 219 registered voters. Dome Kwabenya follows with 144, 624 registered voters, with Ledzokuku, 142, 995 and the Ablekuma Central, 137, 154. Discuss the economic and/or social activities which give Ketu South the largest electoral roll in Ghana.” He posted on Twitter.
The question by the NPP member whose party has openly declared support for the compilation of a new voter register received a lot of backlash from other tweeps who seemed sympathetic the opposition NDC – one of the political parties to have kicked against the idea of a new voter register for the December polls.

Former Deputy Information Minister under the erstwhile John Mahama administration described the tweet as ethnocentric.
Mr. Kwakye questioned whether Gabby would rather have Kyebi, the hometown of President Akufo-Addo as the most populous constituency on the nations voter roll.
“This is ethnocentrism of the most undesirable kind. The exact reason why Ketu South shouldn’t be the most populous is what? You would rather Kyebi was the most populous?” He wrote.

Adzima or whatever you call yourself, pls behave and make sure when given the platform you,ll make sense rather than noise. Gabby might have a point but does not need to throw in a sarcastic comment. If hes truly responsible he as a think tank fighting the then NDC government should have done a thorough research about KETU SOUTH and present the facts on the table. Most ppl commenting here don't even know where Ketu south is located, but easily make ethnocentric comments about Ewes...pls be very mindful of your speech next time and you do not insult a whole tribe by your insensitive one way thinking...(it ether mine thought or no one else). Nothing stops the current government from making efforts to find out the actual number of voters in KETU SOUTH, IT common sense to note that the NIA have concluded the ID exercise in the Volta region and said it was well attended that other regions, wht is stopping us to get some data from the NIA before making noise, also the NDC have made so much noise over EC going to disenfranchising most ppl because evidence shows the Eastern region have been well catered for in terms of the NIA JOB
Reply to Teddy No wonder you are talking like this because a certain tribe in Ghana is noted for this kind of comments. They see themselves as inferior race so they associate any comment to ethnocentrism. What is the ethnocentrism in Gabby's comment? Your behavior is very bad. The southern voltarians in Ghana are fun of this uncivilized behavior. They also see themselves as inferior race. At times I wonder why they think like that. So, that is why Kofi Awoonor wrote about the "ewe hegemony" in Ghana and nobody commented on it. But if this had been written by a different person from a different tribe, you will see how these uncivilized people will talk about it. These ewes hate all tribes in Ghana, left to them alone like they control everything in Ghana. I think is about time these ewes are granted their independence. Ghana should allow them to form their Western Togoland country. They don't contribute meaningful to the economy of Ghana. I bet you the woes of Ghana's development is as a result of the ewes. Ghana will be better off without the ewes.
Ofosu Kwakye, simple statistical analysis will tell you that Ketu south voter register is blotted. What commercial activity goes on in that electoral area? How many people reside there? Can the population of ketu south be comparable to electoral areas such as Dome Kwabenya, Ledzekuku just to mention a few. I can say on authority that the voter population in Ketu south is not up to 10,000. I know that area very well. That is why ndc is afraid of the compilation of new voter register because they are aware that the fictitious names they have included in the register will be expunged. Ofosu Kwakye think before you comment. You people hate the truth. Always ndc wants ways and means to win election. This will never happen again. If you are popular campaign genuinely and win and stop your ways and means.
FOK's response shows he is shallow-minded and irresponsible. A lot of consideration goes into assessing the population of a town, district, constituency, or region. One of them is the socio-economic situation. is it so clear that the socio-economic situation in Ketu South is better than Dome Kwabenya, Ablekuma Central, and some of the other constituencies mentioned above? Felix talking hurriedly does not make you intelligent. Learn to appreciate issues using your head and not your mouth.
this f000lish f00l Gabby thinks he is better than anybody. In any case if the register is bloated as you keep on saying, the NPP won with it. Their suppose good work should work for them, why try to force the EC to compile a new register with passport of voters id when they know perfectly well that most people dont have the id or passport. I find it difficult to understand those who support the EC. but of course .........is not that common to some people
You said it all and that is the truth. the population number son record does not march with the numbers in the area. Actually this is an open secret that everyone knows keta does not have that in fact all of them have migrated to Accra and ashanti where they live in slums along the the Tema mottoway and other places. many others were also from across the borader. Also on person can have about 5 different names and they made sure they all vote. this they could not do in 2016. but the names are still in the register. yu shd also know that many polling stations does not allow any other observer they do not know and by so doing people can can vote multiple times.
Gabby Otchere Darko is noted for this kind of publications and stirring of sentiments since time immemorial. A careful analytical review of his publications will prove this assertion. He and Asante Bediatuo's ethnocentric comments were responsible for a near tribal collision between Ashantis and their tiny Akyem enclave. The only solution to our current political situation is to vote them out and preserve our peace. Only time will soon tell.
wow NDC now I understand why they don't wont the EC to do the new voter register. What this got to do with tribes? These people are a bunch of c-rim-ina-ls and they don't think about the people of Ghana. They only seek their pocket and loot everything when they get the opportunity to rule this beautiful country. They never won any genuine election in Ghana.
What voodoo calculation are you doing? You very unintelligent to discuss the issue. Go and sleep somewhere.
Gabby's tweet exposes why NPP are in cahoots with the NIA and EC for new voters register all cost. It also amplifies NDC's justification that EC want to disenfranchise voters in NDC'S stronghold. If you juxtapose what kyei mensah bonsu said with what gabby has just tweeted it confirms the suspicion that there is a grand scheme to rig the election in favor of the ruling party. Why didn't Gabby find anything wrong with the numbers from the ashanti region. Manhyia and Bantama also have huge numbers, what account for that?
