Ken Ofori Atta, Finance Minister says the ruling government has relegated the frequent power outages; popularly known in Ghana as ‘Dumsor’.
Presenting the Mid-year and Supplementary Budget Review in Parliament, Thursday, he said: "We have relegated Dumsor to the past…we have enjoyed three and half years of reliable and cheap power"
According to him, a lot of investment has been made to ensure the lights are kept on for both domestic and commercial purposes.
We have spent in excess of GHS4.7 billion on capacity payment to ensure that we keep the lights on and also to pay for power we do not use under various questionable contractual obligations we inherited”
Meanwhile, government has extended the free water and electricity to all Ghanaians for another three months.
“That is also why we further reduced electricity prices by half and completely provided potable water for free for everybody since March this year. And we will extend it for another three months,” Ofori-Atta told Parliament.

Truth is like pregnancy it doesn't hide, now all those NDC generator dealers wish Ghana is in Darkness, never again 4 more 4 Nana to do muuucho.
Right now I am not even thinking about who did better or worse. I am rather thinking about where Ghana's democracy will be if another 4 years is given this wicked group of people. During the revolution we saw the military all over the place beating people and putting fear in Ghanaians. Nana addo himself kicked against this and insulted Rawlings on a number of occasions and later run away to UK. JJ later ushered us into democracy and today nana addo has benefited from it and is the president, but he is fast sending us back to the dark days. Ministers are today shooting guns at registration centers and other ministers are justifying. People's houses are being ransacked in volta region. Look at ayawaso west, the impunity with which invisible and delta forces keep harassing Ghanaians. Journalists can't speak out, apart kweku baako and sefa kayi who speak for government. There is no freedom of speech in nana addo's democracy. Journalists are being killed and chased out of the country. People are living in fear, because least thing then you are arrested. Democracy is under attack. Even the EC and SC have been bought. The only way to save our democracy is to send the tired 76year old man to retirement. We can't afford to have our president piss in his pants and 80. We don't want Pampers president.
Keep on doing the good job. The silent majority is going to vote Nana Addo in the coming election.
Does this ediot think he saying this to influence Ghanaians to give nana addo 4 more years? What have they done to stop dumsor. Dumsor ended months before 2016 election, so how did your bogus government end dumsor? Thanks be to president mahama whose vision to bring in power badges and Karpower has yielded result. Dumsor is a thing of the past because of the best decisions taken in the interest of the nation by john mahama. This is why he needs to come back to continue his good work.
This minister is becoming a comedian as well ooo are you the guys who solve dumsor why are this people claiming things they know nothing about i can see de desperation npp is loosing the elections big time now we can enjoy and extention of free ECG and WATER bail haha campain strategy but it will not work the npp has lost already
