Uganda’s ruling party has announced President Yoweri Museveni as its presidential candidate for the general elections scheduled for January 2021.
It sets the stage for the 75-year-old president to extend his rule to four decades after rising to power in 1986 through an armed rebellion.
The party’s announcement was shared on Twitter by local television channel NTV:

We've been here before. I know how this will end. He will get the nod, any opposition candidate will be jailed, people will protest, police will be sent to "restore order", many will die, EU, UN, AU will issue carefully worded condemns, China will pretend to be on a different planet, Musevini will win by a landside in an election that observers will say 'was characterized by massive irregularities' cases might be filed in court by opposition, and thrown out. Yoweri Musevini is just waiting for his next swearing in. How boring for him. How bad for those who think something they might change anything. They are those who die or get imprisoned.
Ugandans deserve better, from Amin and now this stagnant old and stale tyrant?, God please deliver my Ugandan brothers and sisters from the spectacle.
When is this crazin3ss going to stop in Africa? What has Museveni's 4 decade-long leadership brought to Uganda?
