Former Member of Parliament for Adentan constituency, Yaw Buaben Asamoa, has cautioned Ghanaians harbouring thoughts for government takeover to immediately desist from it.
Following the Parliamentary tussle over the 2022 budget where the Minority and Majority are at each other's throats, some critics, particularly on social media, are calling for a coup d'état as they have no hope in the current administration to take the right decisions towards developing Ghana.
Days ago, a broadcaster on Accra-based Onua TV, Captain Smart was arrested for calling for an uprising.
Captain Smart, who is obviously fed up with the way things are going under the leadership of President Nana Akufo-Addo, charged the youth to rise and make demands.
Making submissions on Peace FM's ''Kokrokoo'' regarding the budget, Yaw Buaben Asamoa seized the opportunity to correct the proponents of an uprising or coup d'état in the country.
He reminded them of the benefits of the peace and improvements enjoyed by the citizenry under the Fourth Republic which ushered in Ghana's democracy.
He wondered why any person would like to trade the democracy for an autocratic rule or call for a dissolution of the government, hence advising those making such comments to look at the brighter side of life resulting from the country's democratic rule.
''To those calling for the overthrow of government because we are suffering, it is not the right way to go. Because if the youth protest and subvert the government, our freedom and current processes will all be ruined. We will now be restarting everything. Collapsing something is easy but the difficulty is with rebuilding it," he stated.

@Fii And who told you the military will alleviate the plight of Ghanaians. Maybe you are young so you don't know what coups did to the citizens of this country. Even the small freedom you enjoy by commenting on stories will be taken away from you.
I believe that if all governments under the 4th Republic were to perform as Nana Addo's government is achieving we would not be where we are. Indeed this government after investing so much in Human Capital Development and other Capital Intensive projects like reviving the railway system, Industrialization through 1D1F, building massive school infrastructure cannot be said to have underperformed. Assuming the government spends ghc3,000 per student x 1.2 million who have benefitted from the free SHS, the said investment could have built a considerable number of our road infrastructure. The country is currently living under the tyranny of the Press, where anybody who knows nothing about any discipline professes to castigate government on them. The communication team of NPP should wake up and face squarely the propaganda and lies of the self acclaimed Professor No Nothing of the ink fraternity.
Pls people, No responsible here Ghanaian hoping for coup but hungry NDC ***barred word***. Yes its true things are hard but it's truly the Covid. No export of Gold,Oil and others
Question, how come that for all the president's in the fourth republic, ie Rawlings, Kufuor, Mills, Mahama, it's only this time i.e. Akuffo Addo's tenure such thoughts are in the minds of Ghanaians. It means the others performed much better. The earlier Akuffo Addo sits up the better. It's like he comes no where near the the thoughts Ghanaians have for him. Ministers and other appointees have become president's in their offices as if nobody is in control. Five years on simple reshuffle Akuffo Addo can't do. Finance, agriculture, roads, foreign affairs, national security, Defence, interior, transport ministers have all been at the same ministry. Question; was Akuffo Addo actually studying governance from Kufuor as a cabinet minister? The worse thing of it all is that the very party he rode on to power is in disarray, NPP supporters feel neglected and abandoned. Under Kufuor we saw a vibrant NPP for 16 years , ie 2001-2016. If Kufuor had forgotten the NPP like we are seeing now, would Akuffo Addo have come to meet a solid NPP to ride on to power? If elections were held today between John Mahama and Akuffo Addo, bet me John will win hands down. Currently John Mahama is more popular than Akuffo Addo. I love NPP but not under the current leadership. Arrogance, selfish, greed, empty pride, disrespect is the lot of some appointees. We live to see whether they will have the courage to come face to face with the NPP supporters and n 2024. Kufuor had a skill of moving government and party together, Akuffo Addo is very much lacking in that skill thus the apathy the NPP is currently witnessing. Party enthusiasm is at an all time low, sad
This guy is the reason npp and the government communication is weak.
If you wonder why anyone will prefer that to democracy then tell you leaders to do that job assigned them to alleviate the plight of Ghanaians.
