Leading member of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), Captain Retired Nkrabea Effah Dartey seems to doubt the propability of his party remaining in government should elections be conducted presently.
Even though he believes in the Nana Addo-led government, he posed the question to seek opinions on how the NPP governance is faring.
“We should ask ourselves, will the NPP win power if an election is conducted today?” he questioned in an interview with NEAT FM’s morning show, Ghana Montie.
Captain Retired Nkrabea Effah Dartey was discussing the recent coup agitation by some activists linked to the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
According to him, the Nana Addo-led government's focus is to make living better for Ghanaians as well as work towards how the NPP will retain power in the next election.
“Coup is totally out of the equation, the situation in Ghana is not that bad to call for a coup,” he noted.

Hahahaaaa, even in 2024 i doubt. I am for NPP but current happenings does not urger well for the party. Former president Kufuor had a skill of moving party and government together, AkuffoAkuffo lacks that skill. I can't imagine a president going to a region on official visit and not having time to meet with the party executives in the region. Kufuor never did that, even if it's for 30 minutes he will make time to meet with those who matter in the region. Under Akuffo Addo the gap between the government and party keeps widening. We have government appointees like ministers, MMDCE's and CEO's some of whom have no child who is of voting age ie 18 years and they keep chanting operation break the 8. So who's child of 18 years and above will vote for you to break the 8? NPP seems not to have learnt any lessons from the 2020 elections, the fact that Mahama's votes appreciated from the 2016 figure as against Akuffo Addo's figure dropping from the 2016 figure despite his free SHS, planting for food and jobs, subsidized fertilizer, free water during Covid 19, reduced electricity tariffs, incumbency advantage speaks volumes. Currently John Mahama is more popular than Akuffo Addo, anyone taking over from him will suffer trying to convince party faithful to make sacrifices again only for appointees some of whom could not afford a motorcycle of their own, chamber and hall occupants to come and disrespect people who sacrificed to bring the party to power, if money was what mattered akuffo Addo couldn't have beaten Mahama in 2016, no individual or group can't be richer than government, not in Ghana. In the same vain if NPP thinks they can use money to win 2024, they better revise their notes. Am NPP but under akuffo Addo, party faithful are suffering, it's like they are rather in opposition.
