Deputy Finance Minister and Member of Parliament for Ejisu constituency, John Kumah, believes the recently implemented E-levy Act has been very successful and satisfactory so far.
He says the process has been very satisfactory and on course.
Speaking on Okay FM's 'Ade Akye Abia' programme, he explained that though it was faced with a few challenges at the initial stages of its implementation, they are working to effectively prevent further inconveniences.
"We have however directed all the telecommunications to refund monies of unwarranted charges that came with the few challenges at the initial stages of the implementation of the policy," he said.
"Nonetheless, we are very comfortable with the pace at which the transactions are going and we will work to ensure that Ghanaians have value for money," he added.
President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has pledged that he will use proceeds of the E-levy for the infrastructural drive of the country.
He reiterated that Ghanaians expect that their taxes will be put to judicious use and proper account will be given for it and that is just what the NPP government is committed to doing.
"I urge Ghanaians to shun all the negative comments and support government to generate money for the country's development drive."

Any country that is developed than Ghana pays more taxes than Ghana. So we have natural resources so we should not pay taxes for development? Ghana is informal sector, only 13% of the people are formally employed to pay income tax so they are finding ways to get the others in informal sector to pay some taxes too. Those in formal sector have bank accounts so hopefully they are not double taxed by E-levy.
WHEN ***barred word*** AND ***barred word*** LEADERS CANT SOLVE PEOPLES BASIC PROBLEMS BUT IMPOSE TAXES TO STEAL FROM THEM JUST TO LIVE A BYZANTINE LIFESTYLE THE COUNTRY IS DOOMED...SO WHAT HAPPENED TO ALL THE PROCEEDS FROM THE VAST RESOURCES WE HAVE? IF ALL THESE CANT DEVELOP THE COUNTRY WE HAVE VERY ***barred word*** AND GREEDY OLD ***barred word*** AS LEADERS WE BORROW FROM COUNTRIES WITH JUST RIVERS AND MOUNTAINS....GOD SAVE GHANA
Mr minister, one week is too early to use to assess the success or otherwise of a policy. In any case assuming the levy has been successful so far,bet me the ordinary Ghanaian doesn't stand to benefit in any way. All these money will go into the pockets of so called politicians by way of exgratia, allowances and e levy workshops. If all the taxes our parents have been paying since the colonial era are still not enough to bail Ghana out of it's current woes, i doubt if e levy can be the panacea. 65 years as an independent country we can't still link our 2 major cities Accra to Kumasi by a dual carriage road. 65 years you can't guarantee 24/7 potable water supply to homes in the capital city, 65 years you are still importing tomatoes from a neighboring country which records less rainfall compared to your country, 65 years you can't still mechanise agriculture, all you know is to come out with sugar coated programmes which produces nothing , all the monies go into workshops leaving the poor farmers who are the targets of these foreign support. 65 years you still have schools under trees, those with structures have no furniture any yet you have timber, 65 years you can't manufacture anything on your own, tooth pick, handkerchief, matches, pen, slippers, bedsheets, radio, clock, textiles, shoes, belts, sponge, etc are all imported, 65 years, your revenue collector almost always exceed the revenue targets you set for them and yet still you can't honour statutory payments, Getfund, assemblies common fund, health insurance fund, road fund. Meanwhile some of the fund sources are collected in advance through VAT. You ask your revenue collector to go out there and bring GHC 1,000,000.00 the assumption is that the amount should be able to fund your expenditures for a stated period. The revenue collector brings in GHC 1, 500,000.00 i.e. 50% more than the target set him and still you can't honour payments to contractors. Maybe Ghana needs to start importing a president, ministers, CEO's and MP's to come and solve the country's challenges.
GHANAIANS DON'T STOP DIGITIZATION I HAVE READ THAT SINCE MTN WENT TO NIGERIA THEY HAVE JUMP ON MOBILE MONEY PAYMENTS , TRANSFERS, ETC. AND SOON THAT GOVERNMENT KEEP COPING GHANA WILL HAVE E-LEVY IF IT IS A BAD THING AS NDC FOOOO LS HAVE MADE IT LOOK LIKE. GHANAIANS PAY YOUR TAXES AND STOP CRISING ENOUGH OF THAT. CURRENCY GLOBALLY FLUATUATES BUT IT ALWAYS YOUR BALANCE OF TRADE THAT CHANGE THE CURRENCY STRENGTH. HOW MANY ADDED VALUE DOES GHANA EXPORT. WE KEEP IMPORTING RICE WHICH IT CAN BE GROWN IN GHANA EASILY,WE IMPORT WHEAT WHICH CAN EASILY GROW IN GHANA JUST LIKE EQYPT, BRASIL, OR ANY TROPICAL NATION WITHOUT ANY PROBLEM. SO WE ARE SICK AS A NATION WE MUST SMARTUP AND STOP THE NOISE EVERYTIME WHICH IS NPOT HELPING.NDC SO IGNOOOOOOORANT, LOOOOOOOOSERS THEY DON'T EVEN UNDERSTANT THEY CANNOT INTERPRETATE THE CONSTITUTION, CANNOT EVEN INTERPRATE THE LAW. AGAIN NDC IN EVERYTHING HAVE NO SOLUTION EXCEPT CRITISIMS SUCH LOOOOOOSERS LEADERS AND LOOOOOTERS.
