Manasseh Azure Awuni, an investigative journalist, has said, the majority of Ghanaians made a mistake in 2016 and 2020 when they voted for Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo as the President of Ghana.
He pleaded with the President to have pity on Ghanaians until he leaves office in 2025.
"Nana, kafra. We made an irreversible mistake. Have pity on us until January 7, 2025," he wrote on his official Facebook timeline.
Manasseh's frustrations comes after reports suggesting that the Government has gazetted an Executive Instrument (E.I.) to approve the redesignation, sale or development of Achimota Forest.
In an earlier post on his Facebook timeline, the journalist asked, “How have we wronged you, Akufo-Addo? You gave Atewa to the Chinese, and now you want to desecrate Achimota?”
A document from the Ministry of Lands and Natural Resource, making reference to an Executive Instrument, stated that the Achimota Forest Reserve is to no longer be regarded as a forest reserve.
“An Executive Instrument (E.I.) 144 gazetted on behalf of President Akufo-Addo by the Lands Minister Samuel Abdulai Jinapor indicates that effective May 1, 2022, the land on which the Forest is located shall cease to be a forest reserve.
“The President’s action was in accordance with Section 19 of the Forest Act, 1927 (CAP. 157) which gives him the authority to declare that particular land is no longer required as a forest reserve,” portions of the purported E.I. read.
Meanwhile, Samuel Abu Jinapor, Minister, Lands and Natural Resources, has dismissed reports suggesting that the Government has gazetted an Executive Instrument (E.I.) to approve the redesignation, sale or development of Achimota Forest.
“Achimota Forest has not been sold, it has not been compromised, it will not be sold, it remains as it is. We will continue to reforest the Achimota Forest and God willing, we intend to develop the Achimota Forest into a true forest reserve, which will serve Accra and the people of Ghana,” Jinapor said at a press conference in Accra.

You and who have made an irreversible mistake, you have no shame to talk. After collecting money from a security company to do a documentary to destroy her competitor. Militia at the seat of government bring you into the limelight in terms of money. You will not go scot free, where are Baby Ansah Ba, Jojo Bruce Quansah, wicked boy. Ghana will not go into the hands of Create Loot and Share government anymore, no amount lies will change the minds of the good people of Ghana. NDC can hire or buy the likes of you, Bobie Ansah, Captain Smart, Mugabe the value will the same.
It is very SAD when people who are expected to know better and inform the rest under educated behave this way. Even the most advanced countries like the US, Germany and England are suffering after COVID-19 and now Russia-Ukraine. We were in 4yrs of DUMSO with any bad thing going on in the rest of the world.
Nana Addo has to openly invite and use the best and brightest minds and ideas to collectively move Ghana forward. Instead, he is doing crony politics and we are ALL SUFFERING from the bad policies and activities of the president.
1ncompetent & arrogant presidential decisions by nana addo has made cost of living high & standards of living low. It was not a mistake to vote out JDM. The problem is that Nana Addo has continued the same direction of JDM in making bad decisions
Manasseh, please stop this your speculative type of journalism and go for the facts and leave the Prez out of certain things. Akuffo-Addo is not the one dealing with the Owoo family and neither is Jinapor. There are state departments and agencies with knowledgeable technocrats who handle such issues and only present documents for signing after explaining the technical/legal sides of the case(s). The president has very little to do with this Achimota issue but we are making it look like he is responsible for disposing of the portion in contention for personal gain. I beg you!! Go to Lands Commission and start your inquiries and see where you'll end. It will still remain a forest reserve after this disposal.
Look at this ***barred word*** talk from know all Manasseh. How can he say that majority of Ghanaians made a mistake? Where are the figures coming from? So sad to hear these so-called educated Journalists making such a statement. I wonder whether Manasseh did research methods as part of his masters degree? How can one draw a strong conclusion like this with data? Unbelievable. He is telling lies and from now on, I will not take him serious again as Journalist.
SO WE STILL HAVE FOOOOLS DEFENDING THIS ***barred word*** OLD ***barred word*** AND HIS ***barred word*** GOVERNMMENT OH GHANA IS IT ***barred word*** OR WHAT
Thank you Dear Ohemaa-Ba and Kwesi . You've said it all. Blessed Day.
Manasseh is able to see all these and more anywhere and anytime, yet the is the same person quick to say there is a culture of silence. Continue with your job and that's what puts food on your table, criticize sitting governments to obtain foreign funds and support. what is the interest of those pay masters. But mind you that's not corruption. Interesting world. ad
Ghanaians should stop creating their own monsters by praising sensationalism and idolizing hypocrites over genuine hard work. The majority of Ghanaians made a mistake in 2016 and 2020 when they voted for Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo as the President of Ghana. Those are hard words that to me do not in any way correspond with the performance of the Akufo-Addo-administration in terms of good governance and development relative to the previous administrations. I have the strong tendency to believe that such comments are made solely by journalists who live by being synical in their reportage and doing their best in their world of vile imaginations. So they create their own sensations and feed on them, propagating a falsehood to sustain the status quo of diabolism. In our part of the world, where corruption and kleptocracy are the order of governance, good leadership and good governance get easily lost in the midst. But I believe strongly that on January 7, 2025, President Akufo-Addo will stand out tall as one of the best leaders of our country, Ghana. Mind you, Akufo-Addo's administration has withstood the COVID-19 pandemic, and the Ukraine and Russian war shall be endured.
