Exexutive Director for Media Foundation for West Africa, Sulemana Braimah, has said President Akufo-Addo can not be trusted in fighting the Galamsey menace.

"You are the President. All of Ghana's gold is entrusted to you. You appointed all the people in charge of lands, minerals, forests, regions, districts etc. Everything is being destroyed yet all your appointees are intact. You want us to believe you're fighting Galamsey? No," he posted on his twitter page Thursday moring.
Succesful Galamsey Fight Requires Collaborative, National Effort – Prez Akufo-Addo
The President of the Republic, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, has reiterated his commitment to working hand-in-hand with Chiefs, traditional rulers and all stakeholders in the fight against Galamsey.
According to President Akufo-Addo, “it is obvious that, if we are to win the fight, you and I have to take the lead to collaborate closely to do so. That is why I am here today.”
Addressing the National House of Chiefs on Wednesday, 5th October 2022, the President noted that eighty percent (80%) of the lands in Ghana continue to be under the custody of Chiefs, whereas the remainder of twenty percent (20%) is held in trust by the President.
President Akufo-Addo indicated that, since he took office, on 7th January 2017, he has made it a central feature of his presidency to lead in the efforts to rid the country of the menace of Galamsey, with a firm commitment made in his inaugural speech on the matter.

The president should just resign. He has failed simple
We always lament about this galamsey issue but those involve are our own brothers, uncles and fathers yet we keep quiet on them. We are our own enemies.
He would just relieve them of their post and bring those who can be up to the task. There are 30 million Ghanaians and not all of us are nation wreckers. The chiefs you're talking about can be put under check if the will is there but all of the appointees are involved, so why wouldn't the chiefs get involve as well. Further, if the President thinks he has no solution to our problems he can resign.
Ah, the main challeng facing Ghana is that every Ghanaian knows everything. Unfortunately you failed to tell the president what he should be doing. To say he appointed all those in charge of the lands and minerals sector and therefore should rely on them alone to stop the galamsey menace is not enough. You may not know what the security people told the president which necessitated his meeting with the Chiefs. Selemana Braimah, tell us. If you were the president what will you have done with your appointees in the land sector to stop galamsey, tell us. Remember that it is not everything that is right to do that is wise to do. Having rights alone is not enough, you equally need wisdom. Okay?
