Former Acting CPP General Secretary, James Kwabena Bomfeh, popularly called 'Kabila', says regime change is not what is going to bring Ghana her required developments.
According to him, some people are of a belief that changing the government, come 2024, is what will solve Ghana's economic problems.
To him, what will make the country move forward is instituting a systematic structural change.
Speaking to host Kwami Sefa Kayi on Peace FM's "Kokrookoo" morning programme, Kabila argued; "Whether you like it or not, after 2024 elections, there will be a regime change. President Akufo-Addo cannot continue to be a President anymore, so why the rush? But I think that when you listen to the President's speech and you hear what the former President said, what we need is not necessarily regime change but systematic and structural change. Change in attitude that Kwame Nkrumah told us on 6th March, 1957, that we didn't heed; that is what we need!"

Ghanaian economy can withstand the challenges. Therefore, we have to be candid and attribute the present hardship mainly to COVID and the Ukraine war as the last forces that broke the camel's back. Even the advanced economies have their problems, which take diverse forms depending on the structures underlying their economies. Indeed, most of the governments of the Fourth Republic, especially those of the NDC, have failed awfully to do the least to transform the Guggisburg colonial raw material-based economic structures. It is instructive to realize that the present NPP government has policies that target to reform the structures of the economy, namely, one district, one factory, railway infrastructure, FHS, and Ghana beyond the aid agenda, to name a few. By the way, it is no less a feat that Ghanaian tourism has experienced a remarkable boost under the Akufo-Addo administration. The Kuffuor administration also did marvelous work to lay the trail. It is equally instructive to note that the same cannot be said of any NDC administration. Hence, I agree with Kabila when he says we should cut the president some slack.
