The National Democratic Congress (NDC) Member of Parliament (MP) for North Tongu constituency says an apology from American rapper Meek Mill over his music video shoot at the seat of government is “well accepted”.
Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa in an interview with NEAT FM’s morning show, 'Ghana Montie' said the rapper’s choice of location for his video was “unfortunate” regardless of his motive.
Following backlash against his music video filmed at the Jubilee House, Meek Mill issued a heartfelt apology on Twitter.
“To the people of Ghana, no video I drop is ever meant to disrespect the people of Ghana …. The fastest way to make a connection is thru music and I wanted to do that by displaying art,” his initial tweet reads.
He went on to “take responsibility for [his] mistake” and expressed his desire to “make the connection between black people in America and Africa.”
The criticisms arrived full-steam Monday morning when Sam Okudzeto Ablakwa tweeted screenshots of the music video, expressing his outrage.
He still stands by his decision that those who gave access to the rapper at the Jubilee House must be sacked.
“It’s worrying to have these young men from America to come to the Jubilee House and on the blind side of security hopping from one office to another and recording videos. We should be worried,” he told NEAT FM’s morning host.
“How safe is our President? our President [Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo] is naked. He is not protected and we are not safe collectively,” he added.

@Nana Kwame, watch tongue, the scenes in the video is place many celebrities have been there already. Shatta Wale and many people including journalist are frequent. All that Ghanaians need now is to tell your party NDC to bring out their programs and policies for us to assess if indeed they are the alternative. You can insult the president, whether you are Muslim, Christian or a traditionalist non of them allow insult of an elderly people let alone the president of the land.
Is the President not a ***barred word***? He is not smart enough to know that people will criticize him for allowing such things to happen at the seat of government. Demonstrators gave the police prior notice to picket at the Redemption square just opposite the Jubilee house and they were denied by the police. Reason being that it’s a national security zone. Why do you allow a hip hop artiste to do a video at the Jubilee house using all explicit words like fuck, nigga etc. Akuffo is indeed a big ***barred word***
Why waste time listening to this opportunistic politician? All he's trying to do do is to take advantage of situation, amplify it, attract attention so that if, by any dint of luck, May Allah forbid, that the NDC returns to power, the likes of Okudzeto will go about bandying their so-called 'contribution' of lies, propaganda and unnecessary grammar to make a good case for ministerial appointment. I will listen to all criticism from NDC but not from Okudzeto. What does he know? You target the the gullible in the society to rise to 'stardom' per NDC's standard not by Ghanaian standard. We are educated enough to decipher. We don't need your comment of hate and inferiority complex to know where the government has gone wrong. ***barred word***, Man!
This is no news. Under John Mahama, then Majority leader Alban Bagbin said 'the king is naked ' referring to John Mahama. Was John Mahama actually naked as claimed by Bagbin then? Were you unsafe because of the nakedness of John Mahama?
I am shocked with the way the media in Ghana is giving this guy the opportunity to be spewing out all manner of invectives on this issue. He should be the last person to say anything about the Jubilee House. In 2008 when the NDC was in opposition, this same Ablakwa guy was all over the place with Omane Boamah spewing lies and insults. Same have started. He even said the building of the Jubilee House was a waste of the taxpayer's money. Why is he now crying more than the bereaved. He went further to say the place will be turned into a poultry farm should the NDC win power. They came into power on the back of lies, propaganda and insults and he was given a deputy ministerial position straight from the university with no working experience. In the end, he amassed wealth to the extent that he was able to leave GHC 25, 000 in his car at the washing base for it to be stollen. He hired an airplane to airlift his family members to Tamale for his marriage ceremony. Such is the guy who is now all over the place doing the bidding of some greedy media people who are politicians in disguise pursuing their self-agenda. We live to see.
Give us a break ablakwa, who are you?
