Former President John Dramani Mahama has picked his nomination forms to contest the NDC flagbearer race.
The NDC opened its presidential and parliamentary nomination today, Wednesday, 22nd February 2023.
Professor Joshua Alabi, a former rector of the University of Professional Studies on Wednesday (22nd February) picked forms on behalf of Mr Mahama at the party’s headquarters.
Mr Mahama has already declared his intention to contest again after the Minority Caucus paid a courtesy call on him at his office in Accra.
“We are here to pick up the forms for John Dramani Mahama,” Alabi said at the party’s headquarters after picking up the forms.
“As you are aware we are in very difficult times in this country, the economy is in shambles, people are suffering and the summary here is that people are crying for the NDC to come back.”
“The NDC has gone through all its structures, and elections, it is time to come for the flagbearer to deliver the 2024 elections.”
“Ghanaians are asking for a well-experienced leader, leadership counts. If leadership counts then experience is the key, one who has done it before and one who is very humble, one who loves the people and one who believes in people-centred policies. Fortunately for us in the NDC, as a country, we have somebody like that,” he added.

If the NDC is basing its chances of winning the 2024 elections on the folly of the NPP and the underperformance of the Akufo-Addo government, it is only underestimating the intellect of Ghanaians to assume that mere wishful thinking and propaganda will do the magic. I disagree that Ghanaians will not prefer either of the NPP candidates in the person of Bawumia or Alan to Mahama, no matter the amount of propaganda and discrediting that will be used against them. The Mahama-led NDC government was voted out because Ghanaians bought the allegations of incompetence against it. And I'm curious to know how Mahama will sell Ghanaians on how competent he is this time around. The 8-year term can be broken by the NPP if it stays consistent with its massive infrastructural development in education, industrialisation, railways, tourism and digitalisation agenda. Notwithstanding that all these remarkable achievements have been made despite the COVID pandemic and the war in Ukraine, as well as the associated financial challenges. The NDC's desperate attempt to make Ghanaians believe otherwise will not work.
Mahama what are you looking for in life? Haven’t you had enough??? Are there not others in NDC who can also Lead? You appear to be one greedy person I have ever seen in life. You have a family and you’ve done your part. I just don’t get it!!!
Hahahaaaa, why not. The grounds have been made fertile for him to stage a comeback. The current government has provided enough 'ammunition' for John Mahama to fire in 2024. He may not even be able to fire all of them before 7 December, 2024. If the 2016 was about money and incumbency John Mahama would have won by a wide margin for no individual Ghanaian is richer than the government. John Mahama lost in 2015 because he failed to secure the required number of human beings to cross the 50% + 1 mark to win the elections. This should tell the NPP that human beings are more important than money, power and influence. If they want to break the 8 they should start looking for human beings. When the recent earthquake hit Turkey, the rescue workers were not looking for V8's, dollars, clothing and other valuables of those trapped, they were searching for human beings. So those in the current government hunting for money, vehicles and buildings should take a cue from the Turkey disaster. Currently if you line up all those who voted for the NPP in 2016 and 2020, i doubt if they will all vote for the NPP again, i doubt. The party leadership seems not to have learnt any lessons from the defeat of the NDC. The people you meet on your way up are the same people you will meet on your way down. The NPP is inflicting pain on itself. You don't show arrogance, greed, empty pride, disrespect towards those who will be by your side at your mothers funeral. If John Mahama wins elections 2024, what message will the electorate be sending to the NPP? That John Mahama with all his negatives when he was in government is still far better? Hmmmmm
