Akin Osuntokun, the Director-General of the Labour Party Presidential Campaign Council has called out the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) over its performance in the polls.
The Presidential and National Assembly elections were held on Saturday, February 26.
He described the process as "disgraceful" while noting that the "process has been marred by irregularities.
He also said that there was a "selective application of ground rules laid down by INEC itself."
He made this known in an interview on Sunday, February 26 on Channels TV.
In an earlier statement, he appealed to the electoral body not to plunge the nation into an avoidable crisis after a largely peaceful election.
Osuntokun expressed the party’s grievance at the conduct of INEC officials in most parts of Lagos, Imo, Rivers and Delta states, where he said a considerable number of his party members were disenfranchised.

Our current EC is the best so far. John Mahama is criticising because the current EC is closing all the known loopholes used by political parties. What the EC is doing is good for Ghana and I commend them. Only Ghana Card should be used from now on. If NDC does not opposed it as pointed out by Dr Ayine on the Newsfile, then what they need to do is join other parties in ensuring all Ghanaians have Ghana Cards. This is very simple, parliament should ask NIA to report to parliament every 3 months the progress of issuing 2.5 million Ghanaians with Ghana Cards until it is fully done. After all, NIA has promised us they can do it within 6 months and they should be held accountable through 3 monthly reports on their progress.
Mr. John Mahama, is this the same INEC you were praising over our very own EC? Please let us be guided that no one is perfect and so we should be measured when criticizing people, especially how we bastardize our very own. I am not saying we should not speak out about the ills bedeviling our system but we should help correct the negatives in a respectful and amicable manner. After all, no one will be in power forever. Posterity will judge us all.
